5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product!
Storefront 2000 is an excellent product. I have using it since it was Storefront 99. Works great with FrontPage 2000...all kinds of built in tools for building your own custom ecommerce site from start to finish. I have downloaded and tested at least 20 other "ecommerce/shopping cart" packages...this is by far the best if you like controlling your own...

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible package, September 12, 2000

Thats what I have to say.I am an ASP Programmer and have been building websites for over 2 years now.I got this package so it could help me provide readymade solutions in shoppingcart, shipment calculations, tax etc. This package has a very high learning curve.Inspite of being in ASP I had a lot of difficulty finding my way through this package for solutions I was looking for.The documentation which comes with this package is very sketchy. Being a programmer and on top of that spending money for a ready made solutions program but still finding it very difficult to move thro....you get a picture I guess of what I mean. I bought the SQL Server option with the pack and then I found that the SQL Option is purely meant as an interface format for the application. No SQL Database comes with the package. I just could not find out thro their documentation how to import the sql database developed by me into the application - kept getting errors. I emailed them and as of today (three weeks) I have yet to receive a reply. The support for this pack is sketchy, vague and not informative enough to help you to a solution. There is a newsgroup where other customers submit their problems , but there are few solutions offered and the range of problems indicates to me that people dont get their solutions on time or never.

Surprisingly I find the negative reviews for this product being taken off periodically, which creates doubts in my mind about the clean image of amazon.com.

1.0 out of 5 stars A HORROR STORY, August 16, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: StoreFront 2000 (CD-ROM)
This is a classic example of a company living in the 19th century(read no concern for customers) but somehow managing to sell a software product. Firstly somebody ought to teach this company how to give straight answers and secondly they ought to decide who is this product is targeted for : absolute novices in programming or for programmers. When I first called up the company they said I didnot need to know any programming.I explained I did some FrontPage work on weekends as a hobby and I wanted to have some freedom in designing my webpages,(I could have gone for ecommerce custom built sites offered over the internet, but I wanted to design my site to some extent) but at the same time I did not want to be in any way involved in the technical details of ecommerce which should be handled by their product. The way they went on babbling about their product I thought I was at the right place for the perfect product. That was the last happy day of my life in the last few weeks. After getting the product , I found that there were deep technical features I had to install and integrate, totally opposite to what they had mentioned.I called them up asking them to help me out - if I wanted to be involved in such features I would have hired a programmer to build my site and not have gone to buy their package - I spoke to one person, passed on to another, then another, then another....its as if no one in the company wants to take the responsibility of helping the customer out. Then suddenly one of the persons from the company announces that I have messed up with their some database file???????? This was outrageous I had not even started building my first page, am nervous enough to touch the mouse at the sight of some technical file name leave alone messing up with it. I tried explaining to the guy that I had absolutely no idea what the file was and where the file was...well after another 2 days while speaking to another person in the company (the problem is still not solved) I now hear that the file mentioned earlier(which I have been accussed of messing up with) is ok and the problem lies somewhere else. By this time I was aghast and my wife was ready to drive me to the nearest psycho clinic. You'll be shocked to see how these guys treat the customers.I have never heard people mentioning words like "we dont give technical advice.we are here to sell our product." I am sure this product was made by some other company which no longer exists or this product was made by guys from the company who no longer work with them. Now the company is hanging with a product they have no idea of.

A ridiculous response staff with a stiff upper lip, nose high attitude ("we sell in 60 countries.this is the first time we have received such a compliant." )

If you wanna still go and mess with this product be my guest. Amazon should strike off companies like this who treat customers in this manner which is quite unlike the motto and policy of Amazon.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst shopping cart and support there is!, June 29, 2001
By
M. Anderson (Flagstaff, AZ United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: StoreFront 2000 (CD-ROM)
I spent over a month trying to get this program to work with my software. When I would try to preview the cart, nothing would show up. I had entered nearly my entire inventory. When I called tech support, they said there was a problem with how I set it up and to delete everything I had entered. I started over and entered only a couple of items and it still would not work. I tried to get help from tech support, but it was useless. They did not know how to help and their response time was awful. They refused to give me a refund on the program. I had purchased it through Amazon.com and luckily, they refunded my money. If I were thinking of buying a shopping cart program, I would stay away from this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another fake review posted by LaGarde., October 22, 2003
By A Customer

If you believe that real users posted all of the great fake reviews then maybe you should invest in StoreFront. I once clicked on the "5452554543532 (see more about me)" link and it went back to a guy named Bob LaGarde who happens to be the owner of the company. What a jackass! Who does that? Goes in and puts postings of how great his company and his products are and then doesn't cover up his tracks. I think Amazon needs to remove this company's product from their website for unethical use of the rating system. It is people like this Bob LaGarde that give the industry a bad name. By the way, I checked out their demo and if you want the real story, the people who posted how horrible the software and support is are pretty accurate.

1.0 out of 5 stars A $170.99 HEADACHE, October 20, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: StoreFront 2000 (CD-ROM)
First off, I did not buy this product myself (thank goodness). I was asked by an associate to help set up this new "e-commerce software", because I'm somewhat computer savvy. Everything I could say about this product has already been said by others. Those that say it's great.....I just don't believe you (do you own shares in this company?). If you do buy it, have lots of patients with both the software and the tech support......you'll need it. We eventually took it back, exchanging it for something that only cost about $50.00. It worked like a dream, there was just no comparison. Expensive is not always best and that's certainly true in this case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Support, September 9, 2000
This review is from: StoreFront 2000 (CD-ROM)
In this day and age of questionable/confusing tech support, it is refreshing to find a company that stands behind it's products and goes the extra mile to make sure that their customers are satisfied. Keep up the good work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product and Great Support, September 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: StoreFront 2000 (CD-ROM)
I just wanted to take some time out to first of all thank StoreFront for a great product! I am starting my second (and third) store, and I am amazed at how much faster I can get everything in working order and up and running! The learning curve was a little steeper than normal, but once you get over that, it is a lot easier to work with!

The StoreFront newsgroup was a great help! I couldn't have made site without it! Storefront support has been great too! Angie

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibily Satisfied, September 9, 2000
This review is from: StoreFront 2000 (CD-ROM)
Hello,

I just wanted to say thanks you La Garde Software for making this product. A year and a half ago I had a background in Access, and VB and I work at an ISP. I was asked if I could do a web store. I told them I could (lied). I searched the net and found storefront 99 software. Since I knew VB, access, and html, I liked it because it was ASP based not java. I bought it and produced my first store. Since then, a year and a half later, I have produced roughly 50 online stores and have made well over 200 grand from them and have learned to take the ASP and heavily modify it for those very picky customers.

My hats off to you for your good product and good support, no I am in a great job, doing what I love.

Thanks, Mark
