Excellent Compilation of Dr. Stanley's Books!
I truly believe that this compilation of three Dr. Stanley books in one volume is one of the best values I have ever found. This one volume contains, "Winning The War Within", "How To Handle Adversity" and (if that was not enough for this outstanding value), "The Gift of Forgiveness". Three of Dr. Stanley's best! Dr. Stanley would say...

Willful Deception and Ignorance of Jesus' Command in Luke 17:3
I have read Charles Stanley's work, The Gift of Forgiveness and am extremely disappointed in the man's theology. He begins that work with a false definition of forgiveness and proceeds to build a Tower of Babel of lies that teach the poor Pew-Sitter a faulty process of forgiveness that puts them back under bondage to sin. Completely ignoring Jesus command regarding the...

Excellent Compilation of Dr. Stanley's Books!, March 24, 2000
This review is from: Victory Over Life's Challenges: Includes Winning the War Within, How to Handle Adversity, and the Gift of Forgiveness (Hardcover)
Dr. Stanley would say "Don't dare give me the credit", (that God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit are rightfully to be praised for these works), okay! Amen! So, I won't say anything else other than...if you are really seeking genuine answers to why you fight those inner battles, why God allows advesity into our lives and a most practical spirit moving explaination of the loving, mericiful and gracious forgiveness available to every child of God...buy this book. I pray that God's Holy Spirit challenges you to greater, more meanful growth in your Christian life as He did me while reading these wonderful books.

Willful Deception and Ignorance of Jesus' Command in Luke 17:3, May 26, 2010
This review is from: Victory Over Life's Challenges: Includes Winning the War Within, How to Handle Adversity, and the Gift of Forgiveness (Hardcover)
Completely ignoring Jesus command regarding the four step process of forgiveness in Luke 17:3, Mister Stanley uses feelings, statements by unnamed sources, and downright lies to make the victim of a sin into the perpetrator of bitterness, hatred, grudge-holding, and un-forgiveness. Rather than the sinner being identified as the wrong-doer, the victim is convinced that if he/she does not forgive everybody for everything they ever did to him/her, that their fellowship with God will cease and their life will be miserable. It is beyond me why Charles Stanley would concoct such a twisted lie and preach it to the Saints as truth. This same thing occurred to the Galatian Church. What he fails to point out is the fact that there are two aspects to the Biblical commands regarding forgiveness between Christians. The first is the "WHAT?" and the second is the "HOW?". Yes...we are commanded in Matthew 6:14-15 and Ephesians 4:32 to forgive one another. That is the "WHAT?". In luke 17:3, Jesus gives us the "HOW?". His instructions are simple and straight forward. "If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; if he repent, forgive him." These twelve words contain two IF - THEN commands. If TRESPASS, then REBUKE. If REPENT, then FORGIVE. This is exactly what happens between sinner and Savior leading to salvation. Mankind has sinned and Savior rebukes them. When mankind repents, Savior forgives them. That is the Gospel of Grace in a nutshell. None of Charles Stanley's false confessing to an invisible person in a chair. No threats of lost fellowship with God. Luke 17:3 is Jesus very words...and Charles Stanley never mentions this vital verse in The Gift of Forgiveness. If you wish to know more from me, email me at hiouchi@centurytel.net.
