Respected deejay and singer Papa San along with a number of talented musicians and studio personnel, has crafted a beautiful collection of gospel reggae with Victory. Lines like, "I was searching for comfort, now I found it in Jesus..." really stand out as he sings in JESUS LOVE.His testimony is sprinkled throughout the album and the gospel message comes through full force here just as San has been in concert. Clearly, he's not holding back whatsoever and is eager to share his talents and testimony to minister and also to glorify God. Papa San's voice has never sounded better as he glides easily from rapid-fire raggamuffin toasting to heartfelt singing. There is tremendous variety here with classic dancehall reggae riddims, hip-hop influenced beats and a few cameo appearances including Shabba Ranks (Yep!) on ONLY JAH MERCY and Chevelle Franklin on TOUCH FROM YOU. One has to wonder if Shabba has experienced a spiritual re-birth himself! (I'm praying for him.) What a tremendous witness VICTORY is in that the reggae community is confronted with the gospel of Jesus and an invitation is given to all who hear it. Contrary to what many say, San's lyrics aren't all that hard to understand. Once you've given VICTORY a few listens, you'll be picking up on his patois. It helps that the lyrics are printed in the liner notes too. As a radio deejay, I listen to lots of recordings-Papa San's VICTORY is an outstanding one that is a blessing to the heart and very sweet listening indeed. We should pray for Papa San as he goes forth with the gospel, using his talent for the very purpose it was given him!

This is a album were an artist puts his heart and soul into it. It has madd style and cool beats, with positive lyrics to keep you listening. It is worth checking it out. His style is simular to Shinehead. peace&God bless

A very good reggae gospel album, containing strong evangelistic lyrics. A good gospel debut by Papa San !

Fourteen years ago I was in the world listening to Papa San on sound systems like "Lees Unlimited". I regarded him very highly because his lyrics were intelligent and his delivery was excellent. However, when I gave my heart to the Lord I disposed of all my dancehall cassettes (67 in all). But now that San is born again and using his talent in a mighty way to glorify God, I had to buy this album.

Every aspect of this album from the title, "Victory" to the lyrics of each song...is a testimony. It's very obvious that San spent quality time putting these songs together; he was always very talented where lyrics are concerned, but now under the anointing of the Holy Spirit he's a power house and he is at his all time best. I can't get enough of the song "As a Christian", Wow!! What a testimony as to how we should live!

Other favorites of mine are "Victory", "Only Jah Mercy", "Mama" and "Hail Him Up".

My message to San is you've chosen the right "Road to Travel" so continue to "Hail Him Up" with your talents, which were never meant for the world and always meant for Jesus.

Papa San has scored a major touchdown with his b-rite records gospel debut "Victory". A reggae lovers dream come true. Great production and vocal arrangements. A true WINNNER. A must have for lovers of pure unadultrated Caribbean soul.

I saw him at The 5th Annual Bahamain and Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards held in the Bahamas this past April where he walked away "Victorious" with 5 Marlin Awards including Outstanding Album of the Year. I also read about him on cgmnetwork.com along with other top winners. Love it.
