Video Poker is Different,
By A Customer
This review is from: Victory at Video Poker (Paperback)
Video poker is not like regular poker and Scoblete explains why in this wonderful book. Many of the hands in regular poker are played with beating other poker players in mind. Not so with video poker. Here you are trying to get the best five card hand in order to get payouts and bonuses. Scoblete explains the strategies you need in order to play over 100 video poker variations successfully. This book is honest and explains what games are worth playing and what games aren't. He also analyzes the gaming regulations concerning the programming of machines in Atlantic City, Nevada and other jurisdictions. Not all jurisdictions have the same rules for video poker machines. This book is well researched and should be read by everyone interested in video poker. Scoblete also has some very funny anecdotes and stories which prevent this book from being dry.

Video Poker is the Game to Play,
By Mark Poppa (Memphis, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Victory at Video Poker (Paperback)
Because video poker often has a positive expectation, it is the one machine game that really offers the player the chance to get the best of the casinos. The only caveat to that statement is that you must select the best machines and play the proper strategies on those machines. This book shows you exactly how to do both ofthose things. In addition to selection and stategies, Frank Scoblete explains how the machines are programmed and what that means for your expectation. This is a solid book and easy to understand.

The Best Book on Video Poker,
By A Customer
This review is from: Victory at Video Poker (Paperback)
Victory at Video Poker is the best book on this topic. It convers all the best games Jacks or Better Draw Poker, Deuces Wild, Joker Poker and most of their variations. The strategies are presented in a clear and concise way and can be copied and brought to the casinos. There are great sections on how to judge if a video poker machine is a high paying one or a low paying one. If you want to have a good shot at taking the casino's money, video poker is the game to play. There are also sections covering video blackjack, video craps and video keno. This is a really complete book and worth getting.

By Gwynn Nostrum (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Victory at Video Poker (Paperback)
I switched from playing slots to video poker after reading this book and I have begun to win more than I ever have in the past. This book showed me exactly which machines to play and how to play them and also what to avoid. It was very well written and the strategies are easy to learn and not too complicated. Scoblete is a very good writer who really makes it easy to understand.

Why Not Play With An Edge?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Victory at Video Poker (Paperback)
If you like playing machines, the best machines to play are video poker. Not every one but some. This book will show which machines to play and the proper strategies to play them. I have made a photocopy of the strategies from this book that I use for certain machines and I bring it with me to the casinos. Scoblete is a great author. Since reading this book I now have won slightly more money than I have lost.

Video Poker is the Best Game to Play,
By A Customer
This review is from: Victory at Video Poker (Paperback)
Casinos want to take your money but at video poker the player has a chance to actually turn the tables on the casino as Frank Scoblete shows in his book. I have employed his strategies in Atlantic City and in Connecticut and they WORK!!! This book is easy to read and you will learn everything you need to know to get an edge over the casinos.

IF YOU ARE NOT A NOVICE SAVE YOUR MONEY & FIND ANOTHER BOOK,
By A Customer
This review is from: Victory at Video Poker (Paperback)
THIS IS A GOOD PRIMER FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NEVER BEEN TO A CASINO AND IS TOTALLY IN AWE OF ALL OF THE POSSIBILITIES FOR MACHINE PLAY. HOWEVER MOST OF US WHO PLAY WITH SOME REGULARITY AND HAVE ALREADY MADE OUR SELECTION AS TO WHICH GAMES ARE "RIGHT FOR US", ARE LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS TO MAKE OUR PLAY MORE SUCCESSFUL. WE HAVE TO MAKE DECISIONS AS TO WHAT WHICH HANDS TO PLAY AND WHY, AND THIS TEXT HAS VERY LITTLE TO OFFER. I ORDERED ANOTHER BOOK THAT I FOUND TO BE MORE USEFUL DONE BY JOHN GROCHOWSKI AND TITLED THE VIDEO POKER ANSWER BOOK. I FOUND THIS BOOK FAR MORE HELPFUL. (NO, MR. GROCHOWSKI IS NOT RELATED TO ME!!). IF YOU COME TO LAS VEGAS YOU CAN LOOK ME UP. I'M THE ONE SEATED AT THE DUECES WILD MACHINE OFFERING MY COPY OF THIS BOOK TO ALL COMERS AT 10 CENTS ON THE DOLLAR.

Atlantic City players shouldn't waste money on this book!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Victory at Video Poker (Paperback)
After searching Amazon for information on how to beat the video poker machines, reading the book descriptions and reviews, I selected Frank Scoblete's book, "Victory at Video Poker". Imagine my surprise when on page 218 out of a total of 243, Mr. Scoblete informs us that all the previous information is absolutely useless if you intend to play video poker in Atlantic City. Apparently, the New Jersey Gaming Commission permits these machines to be rigged like slot machines, thereby taking away any element of skill and nullifying all of Mr. Scoblete's "strategies." Perhaps the title should be changed to "Victory at Video Poker in Las Vegas." It's hard to believe that Mr. Scoblete (or his publisher) didn't realize they were taking advantage of Atlantic City players by not divulging this information up front. After all, they managed on page 16 to squeeze in plugs for two other of Mr. Scoblete's products! I wonder how many books were sold under these phony auspices, the exact kind of pseudo information the casinos indulge in, and Mr. Scoblete claims to be so disdainful of. You might as well take your $12.95 (in quarters) and flush it down the nearest slot machine.

Finally a Video Poker Book that Makes SENSE,
By A Customer
This review is from: Victory at Video Poker (Paperback)
The strategies in this book are written in plain English and are easily memorized and understood. You would think a book such as this would be dry but Scoblete has enough filler material in addition to the strategies that the book is actually quite enjoyable to read. And it has improved my video poker game immensely.
