Man what a great release. I can't say enough about this awesome Viking/Death metal band. One of the original Viking bands and THE originalViking/Death band. They play a old school mid paced thrash/groove death metal that lyrically focus' on (what else) viking gods, myths, lore , history and the like. Killer stuff and obviously one of the mighty Amon Amarth's biggest influences. Buy it , blast it, headbang to it!! They pwn your soul metalhead !!!

Two of Unleashed's "medicore" albums,

It nice that Century Media Records is re-releasing most of Unleashed's older albums as double album sets (such as Roadrunner is doing with two from the vault) but 1996's "Warrior" and 1997's "Victory" are not the bands strong points in their album collection. Judging from the very small amount of reviews for the bands albums, it seems like Unleashed is still stuck in the deep underground of Death Metal, which is a shame since they are a really good band." Most of their older stuff sounds like Vader did on "The Ultimate Incantation" which was a plesent mix of death and Thrash. Unleashed debuted with "Where no LIfe dwells" in 1991. They followed it up in 1992 with "Shawdows of the deep" and 1993 they released "Across the Open Sea" I think there might have been a gap til these two recordings, since I can t seem to find any material the band released (at least not on Amazon) so the three year absence of studio time seemed to hurt the band for these albums. What you get is about twelve songs that really hit home and sound like classic Unleashed. The rest?? Pretty sad to say the least. It doesnt even sound like Unleashed, it was almost like they destroy their element of music that makes them so good, and try to make something a bit more, oh how do I say, Sissy? But considering the album is only five bucks used, and there are tweleve good tunes to listen to, then I say go for it and buy it. Otherwise, start with either the three albums that were before this, or try the other albums after this, as they are all much better, including the newest release "Midvinterblot" which is killer!. ENjoy
