5.0 out of 5 stars The hypoglycemic connection to migraine makes sense., July 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Victory over Migraine: The Breakthrough Study That Explains What Causes It and How It Can Be Completely Prevented Through Diet (Owl Books) (Paperback)
This book fell into my hands at a book sale, read it, then read Atkins, and the old Adele Davis book on hypoglycemia. They all start to make sense. Write me if you know more about this. I have only done it a few days but feel like it is making a difference.

For those who are tired of suffering the pain of migraines, this book, if followed precisely, is a life saver. Giving up sugar is difficult at first, but it is all worth it. You don't have to live with pain anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars The title of the book says it all., September 13, 1998

If you really want to end your migraines, you will follow the guidelines in this book. I have had migraine headaches all my whole life and for the past 7 years I have averaged 75 migraines a year. During the past three months, following my review of this book, I have had only 6 migraines and I feel great. With the help of a nutritionist, I have developed my own menu, or food schedule, which is simple to follow and eliminates the items Rodolfo Low recommends. It was not easy at first to follow but the alternative is much less desirable. The result is that my new menu has definitely worked for me. Good Luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT!, February 11, 2000
This review is from: Victory over Migraine: The Breakthrough Study That Explains What Causes It and How It Can Be Completely Prevented Through Diet (Owl Books) (Paperback)
This book was the reason I stopped having migraines which I had had all my life. I had 4 a month that lasted 3 days each. This book, explaining that migraine sufferers are hypoglycemic and must give up refined sugar, helped me give up the sugar that had always been bad for my system and led me to a life free of migraines and a way of eating that keeps my blood sugar level normal and me calm yet energetic.

This review is from: Victory over Migraine: The Breakthrough Study That Explains What Causes It and How It Can Be Completely Prevented Through Diet (Owl Books) (Paperback)
I was so sick!!! and so sick of the meds!!! I suffered from what they termed "Complex Complicated Migraine" and the meds they prescribed only made things worse!! This book showed me why. Following the information here I have been completely migraine free for 16 years, and I lost over 60 pounds too!!

5.0 out of 5 stars It really works!, June 3, 2007
This review is from: Victory over Migraine: The Breakthrough Study That Explains What Causes It and How It Can Be Completely Prevented Through Diet (Owl Books) (Paperback)
My late first wife had chronic daily headaches, with a full-blown migraine once or twice a week. Much of our marriage was spent with her sick in bed or at the emergency room. I got her to eliminate sugar. Almost immediately, her daily headaches disappeared completely, and she had only one migraine in six weeks.

I have been pre-diabetic for at least 10 years, with extremely high insulin levels. During this time, I suffered from chronic daily headache, with migraines increasing in frequency (6 migraines during last month). 24 hours after I eliminated all refined sugar from my diet and began eating a sugar-free snack every 3 hours - my migraines and headaches are gone. Thank you, Dr. Low. I finally have my life back. Dr. Low gives a clear, scientifically valid explanation of why refined sugar triggers migraines in individuals with high insulin levels: insulin causes adrenaline to be released, which causes prostaglandins to be released, which causes blood vessels in the head to swell, leading to the pounding headache called "migraine." Dr. Atkins, in his book The New Diet Revolution, reaches many of the same conclusions that Dr. Low has. I would recommend both books to people suffering from hypoglycemia, pre-diabetes, diabetes, or migraines.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy To Read, Excellent Results, September 5, 2011

This review is from: Victory over Migraine: The Breakthrough Study That Explains What Causes It and How It Can Be Completely Prevented Through Diet (Owl Books) (Paperback)
Really easy to read, will take you only a day to bust through it. The dialogue is pretty silly, as he recounts case studies word-for-word which adds a bit of redundancy as he repeats similar stories, but I wasn't reading it for entertainment anyway. Basically this is his method:

1. No refined sugar
2. Eat every 2-3 hours
3. No alcohol or caffeine
4. No hypo-glycemic inducing drugs/medications

Cutting out the refined sugar does wonders, and the way he explains the link between hypoglycemia & migraines is very interesting and worth the read. Already loaned it to a fellow migraine sufferer. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!, December 18, 2009

This review is from: Victory over Migraine: The Breakthrough Study That Explains What Causes It and How It Can Be Completely Prevented Through Diet (Owl Books) (Paperback)
I stumbled open this book through amazon and was interested in this because of the reviews. I must say that I recieved the book yesterday and I just finished it. I could not put the book down. I actually read this book with my migraine. I am excited to try the authors recommendations. The book explained why using scenific terms, diagrams, and anatomy diagrams. It discuss how to eat. It discussed the symtoms. It explains what to avoid. Best of all it gives narrative dialogue of other migraine suffers. The dialogue felt very real, like i was explaining my problems. I always had a gut feeling my migraines were influenced by food and i just needed a voice to help guide me into the right direction to eat. I'm hoping that this is the voice!
