Product Description

Great photo opportunities are everywhere, but acceptable shooting locations are usually pretty rare, particularly outdoors. Thankfully, VidPro has created a compact, innovative tripod that can be placed almost anywhere, making it the perfect accessory for the photographer on the go. The GripsterTM is ideal for supporting point-and-shoot compact digital cameras. Featuring sturdy, prehensile legs, the Gripster helps you get a steady shot in virtually any environment. Its compact size means it can go anywhere and everywhere, and the quick-release plate makes set-up a snap. And unlike traditional tripods, the Gripster doesn't require an elevated flat surface for you to take the perfect picture. It grabs tightly on to branches, poles, railings and other similar objects, and conforms to all sorts of uneven surfaces for superior support. Whether you're shooting a memorable family portrait or simply looking to keep your camera rock steady for high-quality photos, the Gripster is the perfect companion for your next great adventure!

You know, there's an awful lot of hype going on about these little critters . . . which one is best, which one works, etc! There are others out there, including the gorillapod, but for the most part, they're all the same!!! I did tons of research and read dozens of online reviews from customers before finally spending a few bucks and trying out this one. First, and most importantly, spend a couple extra bucks and buy from a quality manufacturer, because if you don't, you DO get what you pay for. The other ones aren't worth much! That's all you need! This Vidpro Gripster model is identical to the gorillapod, and is significantly less expensive. It works great, its sturdy, stable, and holds a lightweight digital camera without ANY problems! It has a quick-release head that allows easy access for mounting and detaching the camera, and the construction is virtually indestructible heavy plastic and rubber parts. It does exactly what it says it does, and can hold onto most all surfaces with a little manipulation and patience. It DOES hold well to doorknobs, tree branches, table tops or table edges, the back of a chair, and can sit on very uneven surfaces such as large rocks on the edge of a lake. As long as you balance the camera on the tripod evenly, which can take a few seconds, you CAN get some great angles and shots when using this tripod over all other traditional mini-tripods.

I, for one, am really enjoying this little "monkey," and its also fun to just play with. Its kind of like a lego toy, but with more versatility and conventional functionality and use for digital cameras. You never have to be left out of family photos again!!! I highly recommend this little Gripster Tripod! Its a good buy, and a great little item. Unless you're a professional photographer that needs a larger tripod stand, you'll never need another tripod than this one!! It really does go everywhere!!!

wrapped around my finger. October 10, 2008

I didn't get this for a camera, but for a digital recorder. I can wrap it around a door knob or a chair backing or a rail on a shelf, or just set it on a table. handy little device.

I bought the Vidpro GP-10 to use with my new Canon G-11. I purchased it mostly because of its portability and flexibility. It was also less expensive than the Gorillapod. This tripod truly is small enough to put inside my camera bag, and I envision using it to wrap around chairs and tree limbs. But it is too light-weight to give the kind of steady support I want for my G-11 in most shooting situations, where I simply want to set the tripod on a level surface. It feels unstable and, in fact, has nearly tipped my camera over more than once. In these situations, if you want sharp photos, these little tripods are no substitute for a heavier, sturdier tripod (but then, they probably aren't intended to replace them). I suspect that the GP-10 probably works better with cameras lighter than my G-11. It is better than nothing in low-light situations or when the film speed makes it difficult to get sharply focused photos by hand-holding the camera. I'll continue to use the GP-10, but only as a backup or in situations where using a full-size tripod is difficult.

too light for my needs
It was cheap, reviews sounded good, but I can't use it for the intended camera. If you have a small point 'n shoot, it may be fine.

It was delivered promptly. Read more

Not worth the money
This product would be fine if it was capable of holding the camera. However, I tried to put a Canon camera on it to see how well it would work. Read more

Not what I expected
This tripod turned out to be small and fragile. Not as illustrated on their images. Not for a DSLR. Maybe useful for a Canon 'elf.'
