EVOLUCION!,
By A Customer
This review is from: La Vida Que Va (Audio CD)

Kabah's best album yet,
By Sam Trenholme (Fresno, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: La Vida Que Va (Audio CD)
My first impression when I played this CD is that they are looking to branch out from the synth-pop roots; a number of songs sound almost like filks of songs I have heard before but can not quite recognize, giving me a sense of deja vu.My second impression is that Kabah is still struggling to move past their roots as a teeny-bopper band. Some of the stuff has a distinct fluffy quality to it that is the musical equivalent of riding a scooter--fun to listen to, but never admit to anyone that you enjoy the music. Experienced studio engineers who listen closely to some of the vocals will realize that the singers did a little cheating with voice pitch correcters. I actually think it sounded better back when they heavily reverberated the voices with a Lexicon 480L; the Lexicon trick was particularily effective with their older song "Amor Estudiante". My main impression, however, is that this is one great album! The CD, as a whole, has an euro-techno feel to it; there are a number of distinct styles of modern synth-pop dance music on this album. As always, the message and music is uplifting and positive, and the beats are dancable. Additionally, the vocal harmonies are even stronger in this album than they were in previous albums, especially in the songs "Vivir por mi", "Tu", and "Llamarme". Federica does an excellent vocal rap in "Ven"; it is the most enjoyable part of that particular song. The strongest song on the CD is probably its second single, Esta Noche, which has a octave bass line, a la "Blue Monday" by New Order. A very uplifting and positive song with a distinct Mexican flare to it. I am a little dissapointed that the US version of this album does not have the Big Brother theme to it as a hidden track (I tried both rewinding from song one and going past the last song; in both cases, nothing); it is better to buy this album in México so that one can get the hidden bonus track. The CD has no attempts at "copy protection", you can rip mp3s to listen to on portable players and put on your hard disk. This album is Kabah's best work so far; I hope their up-and-coming 2003 album is even better. 4 stars out of 5; minus one star for having too much of a teen-bop quality to it and for making the vocal pitch correcter too obvious.

Great Comeback,

This group does not stop putting out hit albums! Ever since the first album they have been doing very well. This album has many new sounds of dance that fans of their first two albums would like. SOme fans might have been lost after they put out XNE but they are definately recuperating the new dance sound. This also has the song from the novela that is out now in the U.S. So if you are reluctant cause they have changed their style lately do not hesitate wit h this one because they are back and better!

COOL!!!!,

This CD has to be the best of the group. I like them all except LLAMAME it's so soft and boring and the song VEN you don't understand what the girl says. She's singing in french or in another language. But it's still a great CD thanks to the other songs like LA VIDA QUE VA, TODO Y NADA, NADA QUE PERDER, and CASI AL FINAL. But LA VIDA QUE VA is better than the rest of the songs. Every KABAH fan should get it.

"La vida que va" has to be Kabah's best album (not taking in account "La calle de las Sirenas). This album is an album that has one purpose: make ANYONE dance 'til she or he can no longer stay up. Every track has a techno or rave sound. De verdad que Kabah se llevo un 100 en esta producción. With this album, Kabah really exposed what Latin Pop has to offered. With the exception of one song, 12 0f 13 tracks are fast and very danceable. In this production, Kabah included some foreign languages--- a lá French ("VEN") & to the English ("CASI AL FINAL")--- as the songs main and bridge chorus. The best tracks are the self title song, "Al tiempo volverás", "Nada que perder", "Ven", "Casi al final", and "Es como es". You do not need to speak English to be able to understand the song, the music speaks for itself; if you are a Fan of Latin music and dance, this album should be not missing from your CD collection. p.s. SOY COMO QUIERO SER, NADA QUE PERDER, TEMER, SOY COMO QUIERO SER, NADA QUE ESCONDER, Y NO IMPORTA, NADA IMPORTA, SOY COMO QUIERO SER.

Ever since Las Calles de las Sirenas, I have listened to and liked Kabah. This cd has some awesome beats and harmonies. If you want something to dance to or just fun to listen to then this is for you. It doesn't matter if you can understand Spanish or not, the music alone is worth it. Kabah only seems to get better.
