5.0 out of 5 stars It works great for me
I decided to write a review about this product because I couldn't find many helpful reviews for people with fine, thin and poor hair. I've done a lot of research and there are lots of hair dryers on the market, but it is difficult to find one for my type of hair. I have long, thin hair, and my fight was not only with fly-aways and frizz, but also with volume.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT FOR FINE HAIR, November 22, 2008
This review is from: Vidal Sassoon VSDR5501 1875W Answers Turbo Dryer for Fine Hair (Health and Beauty)
I purchased this @ a store before I knew Amazon carried it,.and payed more for it,.at any rate, this makes my fine hair even limpier than normal. It has to do with the ions. Ionic and tourmaline hair dryers are not good for fine hair no matter what anyone says. On the lowest setting it is too strong and the heat is barely enough to set the hair. On the max setting,.(there are only 2), it blows so strong it could take your head off. Also not good for fine hair. Max watts should be no more than 1500 for fine hair. Also,..why is it so difficult to find a regular ionic fee, tourmaline free hair dryer that is junk?
All in all,..don't get this if you have truly fine hair,..if you have fine hair but a lot of it,..I guess it's ok.

1.0 out of 5 stars Already Dead, December 16, 2008
This review is from: Vidal Sassoon VSDR5501 1875W Answers Turbo Dryer for Fine Hair (Health and Beauty)
I bought this blow dryer maybe 6 to 9 months ago. It started "shorting out" several months ago. It died on Sunday. My last blowdryer lasted for five or six years so I didn't save the warranty information for this one. My bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works great for me, July 9, 2010
This review is from: Vidal Sassoon VSDR5501 1875W Answers Turbo Dryer for Fine Hair (Health and Beauty)
I bought this hair dryer from a beauty salon in the neighborhood, at the same time with a Solia hair dryer, which is 2x more expensive. I have to say that Sassoon suits my hair type better. It doesn't have as many features as Solia, for instance, but Sassoon does its job properly. Before using it, my hair looked dump, dirty, oily (you name it) the 2nd day after washing it. Now I wash my hair at every 4 days (a huge thing for me!), I got rid of the frizz, and my hair looks shiny and soft, and it has volume. Obviously, one should not rely entirely on the hair dryer if one wants to achieve salon-quality results. I'm not a specialist, but in my opinion, the hair dryer is just one of the issues that can make a difference. So, I also use shampoo based on nettle (which makes my hair thicker and less oily), as well as an ionic/ceramic brush to style it and pump up the volume. It all takes me like 15 min. For a special occasion, a couple of ceramic thermal rollers can help tremendously.
The hair dryer itself is very light, which makes it easy to hold. The cold shut button is placed a bit weirdly, but I don't consider this a big problem.
I am, personally, very satisfied with my purchase, and so far, I consider this particular hair dryer the best for fine hair. It's affordable price wise, and I can see and feel the difference on my hair.

1.0 out of 5 stars I didn't know a dryer could be so bad, March 27, 2009
This review is from: Vidal Sassoon VSDR5501 1875W Answers Turbo Dryer for Fine Hair (Health and Beauty)
My Revlon RV484 quit and I'm not in the market to upgrade, but hoped I could do better for my fine hair. Off to the a local beauty supply store and who knew - a dryer for fine hair! However, the excitement was short-lived. I've used this for the last 4 days and my hair looks horrible - flat and oily. I keep changing the ion levels - it was set to max out of the box and that was the best result - but my hair looks worse every day. I'm returning this and will rebuy the 484 if I have to.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good while it lasted, January 7, 2011
This review is from: Vidal Sassoon VSDR5501 1875W Answers Turbo Dryer for Fine Hair (Health and Beauty)
I can't tell you how long it lasted as I do not recall the exact time I bought this at Target (lets call it about a year old dryer). It did work on my fine hair while it lasted. It smoothed and shined it. It never blew enough air for my liking, but I never complained because my hair came out very well.

It started making a light intermittent clacking inside.

Last night it started making a light intermittent clacking inside and bright white light dang near blinded me shooting out from it's insides. I am not waiting for the electrical fire. I turned it off and tried not to cry. I went to bed with damp hair and a bad hair day today.

In the trash it goes. I was scared out of my mind. So I have ordered an Ionic/ceramic by Conair instead (that metallic orange thing they sell here on Amazon). Hopefully it comes soon. Vidal Sassoon I am done with your dryers Previous one lasted 1.6 yrs this one maybe one year. Bad track record and I treat my dryers well. Never had these problems until your brand.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good with a drawback, August 15, 2010
This review is from: Vidal Sassoon VSDR5501 1875W Answers Turbo Dryer for Fine Hair (Health and Beauty)
I was super excited when I found this hair dryer in the store. I have fine hair, not really thin, but it can be pretty flat. I wasn't really impressed the first time I used it but it dried my hair fine. It was after I had been using it for a few weeks that I noticed a difference. My hair isn't as flat when I use this dryer regularly. The drawback is the dryer does not last long. I've had it about 6 months and its starting to die down. I tried using my old hair dryer in the meantime, but I could tell a difference the first time I did this. So, I'm buying another one of the Vidal Sasoon for thin hair. So, yeah, it doesn't last long, but I like it enough to buy another one.

This review is from: Vidal Sassoon VSDR5501 1875W Answers Turbo Dryer for Fine Hair (Health and Beauty)
I have fine hair, and didn't have a problem at all with this dryer. It worked well.... for about 6 months. It's completely dead, with little warning. Don't waste your money (unless you happen to have a back-up).

I love this dryer & find it far superior to any other I've used, like Solano, for my fine, thin hair. I'm stocking up on them.
