This DVD loses three stars from me for three simple reasons:

ONE - WTF is w/ the blurred out Arsenio Hall (in "Straight Up" taking up the full screen in most cases) and brand-names (in "Forever Your Girl")?! ...Probably not a big deal if you're not used to the vids, but annoying as hell if you're a longtime fan...

TWO - Where is the ENTIRE "Rush Rush" video? ...B/C there's an awesome intro that was cut for whatever stupid reason (the disc is short enough as it is... There ain't no need to cut that out - LOL)

THREE - Probably the most disappointing of all: Where are ALL the vids?!!! I mean, if they were gonna just stick to that particular era of Paula's musical career, then they could've had the decency to throw one of the two versions of "Knocked Out" and "The Way That You Love Me"... Such a rip-off... Not to mention that there are numerous vids after that as well that could've easily been added... LOL... Oh maaan...

So basically, I do advise this if ya love Paula and wanna support her and enjoy what ya can, but... Virgin needs to get off their lazy @$$es and throw a real bone to the starving fans out there...

1.0 out of 5 stars It's disappointing., January 20, 2005

My opinion: very sad. It's disappointing. The DVD features only 6 of Paula's 16 music videos. Coincidentally, the only music videos on the DVD are Paula Abdul's #1 hit singles... in which she only had six.

The DVD had been rescheduled for release multiple times.

After waiting as long as we have for a DVD collection with all of Paula's videos on it, frankly this is a disappointment.

Why not put all 16 videos on DVD?

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing release of FANTASTIC material, February 22, 2005
This review is from: Video Hits: Paula Abdul (DVD)
I have loved Paula Abdul ever since I first heard "Straight Up" on the radio. It was shortly after that I discovered the awesome videos Paula created for her music and which played in unending rotation on MTV. There were two collections of her videos released on VHS in the early 90s but they didn't include all her videos. Paula fans have been desperate to get all of them...too bad it wasn't on this collection either.

Not only is it just the six number one videos but they are edited too. For example, in "Straight Up" Arsenio Hall is blurred out in all his appearances and the Lakers logo on her jacket in "Forever Your Girl" is also blurred out. I realize this may be due to rights issues but you would've thought Keanu Reeves would be blurred out of "Rush, Rush". (Luckily he isn't). And speaking of "Rush, Rush", this mini-movie remake of the James Dean classic 'Rebel Without a Cause' is not the full video. It simply begins with the song, rather than the brief scene at first.

I had the chance to meet Paula Abdul at a Meet-N-Greet in 2004. She was asked about her music videos being released and she said she was aware that someone was going to release a collection without her permission and she wasn't too happy about that. She also said that she viewed her music videos as art and that she would release her own collection that would present them as they should be. Let's hope that this is soon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Simply not good enough., May 17, 2005

I really enjoyed Paula Abdul's videos back in the peak of her popularity, particularly "Opposites Attract" and "Straight Up", so I figured I'd buy this and be satisfied. Then I popped in the DVD and saw right away that Arsenio Hall was blurred throughout the "Straight Up" video, which was very distracting and a little disappointing. Perhaps it was an issue of rights, but if whoever released this disc thinks that we don't know by now that he was in that video, I feel sorry for them.

Sadly, the highlights of this DVD were "Promise of a New Day" and "Cold Hearted Snake", simply because they seemed to be the only ones untouched or edited.

The lack of "The Way That You Love Me" and "Knocked Out" was disappointing, also. In all, I give it two stars and hope that Paula later releases a collection I'd be content with.

1.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTING, February 8, 2006
This review is from: Video Hits: Paula Abdul (DVD)
Paula Abdul rocks, but whoever was in charge on putting this medicore compilation together needs to get fired and has no place in the music business... Com'on, only 6 videos, many of her hits still missing... blurred brands in videos! Rush Rush is cut out! What a sloppy job.
I will give it a star for the high picture quality of the videos, that's all.
Disappointing all the way...

5.0 out of 5 stars PAULA'S # 1 SINGLES IN DVD VIDEO, January 31, 2005

Well Im giving FIVE STARS to Paula!, not the concept of the collection, it's odd that a collection of an artist who best thing was her unmatchable way to handle her vision of music. Paula's six videos included here began with STRAIGHT UP her first #1, Paula making that tapping dance at the beginning it's unforgettable, you can tell by her solo dancin' that she knew what she was doin', a classic, como se llama? a si Mr. Arsenio Hall makes an special appereance, FOREVER YOUR GIRL it's the second vid, it's funny how Paula since the beginning appeal to kids, that's what got into me to be her fan, cos I was a kid by those days, Paula teaching kids, and her in glasses it's just well, good marketing. This was the first thing that FRODO from the Lord Of the rings did for TV and the buzz, COLD HEARTED, my favorite video of it all, based of Bob Fosse Erotica act, it's an incredible video, where Paula stands again as a perfect dancer, check it out, PAULA is dancin' in the same hall as Christina Aguilera's WHAT A GIRL WANTS vid.....all the before videos were directed by now famous art director David Fincher, who has done work like PANIC ROOM, OPPOSITTES ATTRACT, well by 1990 this vid was cool for a kid like me, but know it's just funny, okay still the song made it to #1...take a hint, watch the cat shoes in the TAP sequence, he loses he's shoes color for a while, hummmm...talk about double checking the video before sending it to the TV, RUSH RUSH, amazing vid, i like it, if Paula vids have something in common it's well, they're timeless. feautering Mr. Keanu Reeves, and making the video based on Rebel W/O a Cause, it's clever for such a timeless song. THE PROMISE OF A NEW DAY well, now it's seems real to me that the cinematography of this vid was streched to I don't konw why, Paula's looks taller and thinner, but oddly unnatural..but still the dance, the idea and the song rocks, Paula should have hold a Parrot and dance with it, and clap along the dolphins...sorry..but this vid...it's a lil cheesy...I'm with the other fans, well a video including my favorite ones, as MY LOVE IS FOR REAL, CRAZY COOL would be extremely nice!....so...in the mean time, YES this is CHEAP so buy it!...the DVD menu is well done, so two thumbs up to the creators, but to the Marketing team, and whoever decided to release only 6 vids....well hummm...maybe they're palnning to release a second one, with the other six...huh?...*****FIVE STARS to PAULA ABDUL...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great To See These Gems Again, but...., January 19, 2005
This review is from: Video Hits: Paula Abdul (DVD)
A FULL length Paula Abdul greatest hits video would be WONDERFUL! Paula still has TONS of old fans from her early solo career, and a whole video collection would be AMAZING!!!

These songs are included: 1)Straight Up 2) Forever Your Girl
3)Cold Hearted 4) Opposite Attract 5)Rush Rush 6)Promise Of A New Day

I was glad to have bought this small collection, and it is pretty cheap as well, but if you have ever bought collections like "Ladies of the 80's" or "Alternative 80's" etc you know that the videos aren't given the 'works' that a record company usually affords for video collections. These are bare bones-just the videos here-no behind the scenes, no extras, but worth it for under $6 to see these videos again, and hope for a full Paula video disc in the future!

I mainly got the DVD, to see the video Opposites Attract: Featuring M.C. Scat Cat. I loved it as a teenager, and had been longing to see it again. I have a Video tape of Paula's Early works, such as those reprised on the DVD. like in Example; Cold Hearted Snake, Straight Up, Forever Your girl, and Knocked Out. But did not include The Opposites attract track. I really Enjoyed watching it, and Liked the 2 new videos on the Dvd, Which i had never seen. Those being: Promise of a New Day, and Rush Rush, Featuring a young Keanu Reeves. It was well worth the $10..00 it took to have it in my possestion

paula abdul is one of the greatest female solo artist to come out. she is in the likes of janet, whitney, madonna, and britney. but why just her number ones... which is not a bad thang at all...those number ones are what made her who she is...

i just wish they put all of her videos... she had tons of videos... how come britney, madonna, and janet could put out a DVD of all their videos but you discriminate on paula... she is what made janet madonna and britney of who they are....
