4.0 out of 5 stars Great Device, Wish I would have waited
I love this Zune. As a fan of Joy Division and their descendant New Order, I couldn't wait to buy it when it was released. While I have a low numbered unit (#35) I paid over $350 for it from the Zune Store thinking, incorrectly, that with only 500 units world wide they would sell out quickly. Now nearly 7 months later it looks like Microsoft sold their remaining stock to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great MP3 Player, Awful software =(
I don't have this zune 80 gig. I have the original 20 gig Zune offered a while ago. But i felt i should still give my 2 cents.

The Zune itself is a great Mp3 player. My only complains about it are that (being Microsoft) it does not support many codecs. And I would really like it to support Ogg Vorbis. The Equalizers are really good, and the device has a...

Now nearly 7 months later it looks like Microsoft sold their remaining stock to Amazon to unload. Oh well, it is a fine device and the presentation is awesome; the photos do not do it justice. Another bonus is this version is the only way to get an all black Zune. The other models have a stainless steel back. Not a big deal, but it does make it look better.

This Zune works flawlessly and on top of it a limited edition 80gb for under $200 when I bought it!

Has a documentary of Joy Division on it as well. If you're a fan of Joy Division like I am be sure to get this.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Buyer's Remorse Here, May 15, 2009
This review is from: Zune 80 GB Video MP3 Player, Joy Division Limited Edition (Black) (Electronics)
I had a Creative Labs Zen MP3 player and was extremely happy with it but lost it on a business trip and was heartbroken. Sorrow turned to joy when I found out about this. Joy Division is one of my very favorite bands and this is a great integration of technology and memorabilia. It still is a lot of money to drop at once but once I received it, I realized it was a worthwhile purchase. It is such a nice looking unit and it has a great interface and sound.

The pre-loaded documentary is top notch and I remain highly entertained by it no matter how many times I watch it. I was lucky with my timing in that I caught it at a very reasonable price but even at this price point, Joy Division fans can do much worse in the way of memorabilia.

5.0 out of 5 stars great, May 6, 2009

Good media player. The screen doesn't scratch, reasonably sized, the squircle touch pad thing is nice. This particular item came in a very nice box and came with a nice leather case too. The premium earbuds are cool looking and sound good unless you move around.. the cloth cord channels a lot of feedback into your ears when it rubs against anything. But I have other earbuds and headphones so its cool. Yup.

5.0 out of 5 stars good good good, April 17, 2009

I looked at every MP3 player out there. My choice came to a samsung P2 (awesome player, less memory) and a zune. I wanted a big screen to TV series I ripped onto my computer, and I also heard bad things about the ipod touch and condensation issues, plus it's overpriced and i don't care that it has wifi and internet and all the other stuff, just wanted to listen to MP3s and watch shows while i work out.

Review:
The Zune is awesome, I'm completely satisfied. The FM radio works great, it holds audiobooks and marks your place in them, it has an effective way of managing and sorting your music by genre, playlist, artist, album, song, and the touch wheel is very useful in navigating your huge collection. I like it because it is a button that you press and get tactile feedback from, unlike the touchscreen on the ipod touch. The screen looks very nice and is big. Widescreen tv shows come up smaller and with black bars on the top and bottom, but oh well.

Zune software: I'm also very happy with it. easy to go through, pick out video podcasts to watch later, keeps track of what you play and offers recommendations. The best part: $15/mo gives you 10 song credits to download MP3s and keep them, DRM free, PLUS gives you unlimited downloads of all the music on the Zune marketplace. This is by far the best subscription service out there.

Chief complaints: no equalizer, so you have to find a good set of headphones. it came with the high quality zune ear buds, which have absolutely no bass and fit nice but you can hear the cord bouncing around. also, the battery life while watching videos isn't as long as advertised.

I'd recommend it over any ipod (my wife has one that i compared it to). I'd buy it again.

This thing works great. 80gigs is plenty. The Zune pass reigns supreme as it gives you tons of tunes available via subscription and 10 more to keep non-subscription per month. Automatically downloads my podcasts and deletes them when i'm done. Plays my audiobooks and bookmarks my place. Sudoku. Wireless syncing to my computer to put new content on there even when my computer is in the other room. 80gig version comes with really nice headphones. I could put a movie (or 10) on there if i wanted... It does other stuff but that's all I got. Buy one and be happy

After I got one for my son and learned how to use it I was sold. I bought this one for myself and my husband (We're better at keeping it new). He only plays games but I have all our family pictures, video, movies, AND all my music. I wouldn't have any other media player than a Zune ease of operation is awesome!

The Equalizers are really good, and the device has a really good quality screen.

My biggest issue with the Zune is the Zune software. Its original versions were great but then they updated it with the new "social" experience (much like they changed the Xbox 360's Dashboard). The new Software sucks, entirely. It is very difficult to manage your media. And you have almost no options to control what happens when you plug your device in. It is very counterproductive.

I am giving it 3 stars because of the awful software. (And you can only use the Zune software with it too, As far as I know).
