Both of my kids got these for Christmas - great idea; not as expensive as a DVD player for the car (especially for those of us who don't want the portable one/plan to get next vehicle with built in) and the picture was really better than I thought it would be.

However, I only got my children two discs a piece to start. Now, NO discs worthwhile can be found anywhere. The only ones that are ever on the racks/online en masse are the Star Wars 3 pack (none of today's kids really want that), the Tony Hawk Skate Park (obviously they aren't interested there either) and Fear Factor (let's face it, if you let your kids watch FF you need to take the VideoNow player and hit yourself in the head - HARD).And even if I do find a couple on Ebay, the selection is so limited. I wish I'd just bought a cheap portable DVD player. Hasbro really missed the boat on this one - it could have been a great thing but they didn't make enough discs of the ones they do produce and need to put more shows out for the kids. My advice: Don't buy it. I am very disappointed in the disc selection - this is already at the bottom of the toy box.

I shopped Kohl's sale on this item and Radio Shack and Fry's Electronics and Amazon's sale price was THE LOWEST even with shipping and handling. My daughter loves this toy and shares it with her sisters when we take long road trips.

My six year old wanted this toy last year, and we held off in hopes that they would make it color and improve it. He got it this year and it is color, but I have yet to make it work. The first one that we got did not work out of the box. It jumped and skipped so badly that you couldn't watch it, so I returned it for a second one. The second one has a good picture, but no sound! We also got the headphones to go with it, and we can't get them to work either. I'm going back to the store one last time, and not leaving until they prove to me that the one I leave with will work. I'm not anticipating that this will be a toy that lasts long.

I have the video now color player and black and white player. The color player has a bigger screen and better picture. I have 14 video now color disks and 12 video now black and white disks. The black and white disks still work on the color player but the color disks do not work on the black and white player. I just got this and I have used it a lot since. My favorite disk is the Agent Cody Banks movie. It shows the whole movie, but it is on 4 disks.

It didn't work right out of the box. The lid interlock pin was broken, so the disc would not spin. Once I bypassed the pin and got the disc to spin it wabbled and would not read.

Now I have one disappointed kid on my hands.

I purchased the Videonow Color bundle, which included 3 pvds, for my 4.5 yr old for Christmas. I also purchased the Videonow Color Jr for 2.5 yr old. My husband thought it would be their least favorite toy and a waste of money, but has since changed his mind. Both my children love their videonows and take them everywhere. Grocery shopping is now a quite, pleasant experience, as well as errand running and longer car trips. I am also very impressed with the sound and picture quality and the durability (my son has dropped his many times with no ill-effect).

Even better is that the Videonow Jr and Videonow pvds are interchangeable. My daughter can watch the Dora Videonow Jr PVDs on her Videonow and my son can watch Spongebob on his Videonow Jr.

I also highly recommend the carrying cases. They are nice, offer extra protection against screen scratches, and do not interfer with the sound or picture quality. A bonus to the carrying cases is the separate storage area, with individual slots, for carrying up to 8 pvds.

Definitely the best buy of the season.

I have a videonow player and I luv it!!! There are over 100 discs!!

Each of my three kids received one of these players for Christmas and love them. I think they are pretty cool myself but have a major gripe with the operation of this toy. We had to exchange one of the three right after Christmas because the players video screen would not work some of the time even though the sound was still playing from the disc. The new one seems to operate OK (so far!!) but now one of the other two players my kids received is now acting just like the first one and we have to exchange this one. I'm going to put in a complaint with Hasbro and see if they can't ship these units with a better failure rate. My kids absolutely love them but if they don't operate properly, WELL........? You dedcide!

My six year old daughter was overjoyed to recieve this toy on Christmas morning, and for four days she played with it constantly. Yesterday evening, however, it ceased to work. We tried changing the batteries, but all we have is a blue screen. She almost cried when she realized that it didn't work anymore...save your money and buy a portable dvd player that can play regular DVD's.
