I bought two VideoSecu IR801K Indoor/Outdoor Day/Night Vision Security Cameras. They both work great. I have mounted one outside so far. The daytime color view is real nice and the night vision is too. Good viewing range in the dark. The audio is clear no phantom sounds. One can see the IR lights in the dark if you look for them but not blatantly so. The cable is of good quality and the VHS adapters are solid. Good price for a solid product.

I bought this camera at the same time I bought a higher priced unit from the same manufacturer. I was surprised that this unit provides much better performance than the higher priced unit which appeared to have better features; a higher LED count and a higher TVL count!

This is a mid-sized unit which provides excellant IR night vision out to about 50 feet. The visual clarity is very good, both day and night. The focus is automatic and appears to work well.

I own three different IR cameras and this one is undoubtly the best of the three.

I bought one of these to connect to a new averdigi card I purchased for my computer. To be honest, the motivation was that it had a Sony image sensor a good number of IR led's and one of the lowest prices I've seen. So far this camera has been excellent. It's not the sharpest resolution, and certainly doesn't compare to what you would get for a lot more money, but for a simple camera it's great.

The picture quality both day and night is good, body and mount are solid. You can see the IR LED's at night (faint red glow), but nothing obvious or distracting. I wish the mount had a little more movement, but you can make it do what you want for the most part.

The 3.6mm lens gives a nice wide view, even at close distances, excellent for an entry, which is what I'm using this one for.

So far it's been a good camera that I would recommend, and will personally be buying at least a couple more of.

Video quality is avg. IR is good for 20ft then quickly disapates.
Placed order on 9-15 and finally received on 9-26.
I should get a refund on shipping?
Would recommend for non-critical areas that do not require high
definition. Seems durable and is easily installed.

Baught this because someone stole My Car Stereo while I was watching a Movie in My Livingroom not 20ft from My Car on My {{{{1000watt Home Theater System}}}} , lol

THIS THING CAN SEE IN DEAD BLACK OF NIGHT FOR OVER 50ft VERY WELL!!! and a ways Beyond with a little less distinction....Nice faint Red "Warning Glow" of the IR's when night falls,..Auto switches to B&W in the Dark for better clarity,...and has a Decent overall Resolution for what I paid. Though I would have liked a little more Res.,...I can't complain,..It's NightVision capabilities are Impressive!,...don't need to waste Electricity on My PortchLight anymore,... lol THE CAMERA SEE's ALL I NEED IT TO SEE!!,...combine it w/some Motion Detection Software,...and You're Set,...get the RIGHT Software,..and You can recieve Snapshots of what triggered Security Warnings sent to Your Smartphone while away!!! or even a "Loss of Signal" Warning,...in case Your Camera Singnals are CUT by Intruder,...You can see Snap's of moments that lead up to signal loss,...and if caused by a PERP.,..Just dial 911,..AND SEND THE CAVALRY IN to Check it out from wherever You are,....Great features to have w/ right Software! There are FREE Software apps. out there that give similar options.

NICE CCTV Security CAMERA! If I purchase another for another viewing angle,..I'll get the one with 540 lines of resolution,..rather then the 420 this one has,..but for the price,...You can't beat the Performance of this one!! I'll just use the lesser res. Camera for the Closer Views,..and the Higher Res. Camera,..for the "Big Picture",...further Distance View.

VERY PLEASED!!! BUY IT!! and on CANDID CAMERA,....CATCH THE PARASITES THAT ARE FEEDING ON YOUR HARD EARNED GAINS!!!

I purchased one of these cameras to replace a defective camera. I needed two, but decided to order one to try it out. I see someone reviewed this camera and gave it two stars complaining about resolution. It's resolution is 420. I was very pleased with the quality of the image. I'm using my cameras on the exterior of my home. The picture quality in daylight and nighttime is good. I have several other 420 line cameras, and the image on this camera is the best of all of the ones I own. Although I didn't need a mount, the mount which was included is a good quality mount. I'll be ordering another one of these today to replace my other bad camera.

I've purchased from Videosecu in the past, and even spoke with them on the phone a couple of years ago when they were doing business on Ebay, and they're customer service has always been excellent.

Initially I purchased ne of these cameras to use to monitor my house entrance. I was surprised by the wide field of view and image quality. It is well built. Only negative is the thickness of the wire and that it does not provide for tamper proof installation. However it is a solid value. Been running for 90 days under rain and sun without problems. Very recommended for those looking for a good exterior security camera in a budget.

I purchased this camera for my DEFENDER security system. The original system was sold with only 4 cameras, by design.
I purchased an additional three low profile under eve mount for the front of the house. You would not notice them in the daytime unless you are looking for them.
At night, the infrared glows as a warning to anyone that needs to be warned. (My wife likes it that way). The final camera for the system is the VideoSecu above. This is a rather large outdoor camera (3X) as compared to the original Defender cameras. It appears sturdy and well made. The optics are as good as the original cameras with a wider field of view. The night performance is as good as most quality night (B&W) cameras.

The camera mount is very sturdy. The price with free shipping is very attractive. The VideoSecu cable is of better quality than most. The only reason I did not give this five star is that focal is not adjustable. This however is nit picking, as this camera is not advertized as an adjustable focal length camera.
VideoSecu will sell you one, if you need this feature.

This is the first camera that I purchased for my home security system and the only other camera I have gotten is a really cheap wireless one. This camera blows the old camera away. Something to note is that these cameras are not like camcorders or webcams so you can't expect HD quality or anything. This camera has great color and easily lights up my front yard at night. One of the things I like about this camera is that the infrared lights do not just come on full blast as its getting dark outside. The darker it gets, the brighter the infrared lights become so that you get a nice progression on the video. The camera over all feels very sturdy and well built. I am considering buying another of these to add to my security system soon.

Another thing to note about this camera is that the infrared LED's are the cheaper ones that put off a very very dim pink glow. Some people like it because its a good warning to anyone who is sneaking around that they had better back off and that is probably better than having to deal with whatever they were planning on doing. I hope to see more people include whether this glow is present or not in their reviews of other cameras.

I purchased the cheaper version of this camera first VideoSecu Outdoor Day Night Security Camera Infrared Weatherproof 1/3" CCD 420 TV Lines 28 IR LEDs 3.6mm Wide View Angle Lens CCTV Home Surveillance with Free Power Supply IRX5 to test out my system. With the cheaper camera I wasn't very happy with the sharpness of the image or the irregularities that occured when switching to night mode.

This camera, on the other hand, is much better. The image is noticeably sharper (not crystal clear, but about as good as one can expect for the type of camera and price) and the transition to night mode is gradual and smooth. (The cheaper one would get confused and switch back and forth many times until the sky got completely dark). If you're putting together a budget camera system, I would recommend using this camera.
