I used this mount for a 26" plasma tv that weighed 25 pounds (the specs for this mount say that it can handle a 26" tv of up to 33 pounds). Mounting it on the wall went smoothly and everything was fine until I attached the tv: the tv immediately tilted down about 15 degrees and I could not get it to stay upright no matter how tight I cranked the adjustment knob. I even made a large washer of gritty wire cloth that I inserted into the joint, but the weight of the tv even overcame this. I finally resolved this problem by cutting a block of hard plastic that was about 5/8" thick and siliconed it in the space between the tv mounting plate and the joint. While this fixes the flopping problem, it leaves you with a fixed orientation screen in terms of forward tilt. Bottomline: a job that should have taken 20 minutes took a lot longer until I figured out a fix.
On the plus side: good price; mounts securely on a single stud; very well constructed (except for the design of the locking joint); can be rotated so that the screen can be made absolutely horizontal (this is sometimes a problem on single articulated arms because there is a little bit of give in the joints). I can recommend this only if you are mounting a lighter tv or monitor than mine, and/or you are handy enough to fabricate a block of the precise thickness needed to keep your screen at the angle you want. Also, if you move the tv in and out from the wall (I leave mine in one position), this fix will result in some modest change in tilt position when you push it against the wall, and that can't be changed because of the block.

This review is from: VideoSecu Swivel Arm Wall Mount for iSymphony LC221H90 22 Inch LCD TV 1AI (Misc.)
I wished I had read some of the reviews before I bought this. I have a 23 inch flat screen, weight 17.4lbs. Mounting to the wall was easy, however when I attached the flat screen, it sags and I'm unable to raise the screen at a straight angle. You aren't shown the entire picture on the web, however right behind the 4 piece piece prong you attach to your monitor, it has something like a ball and socket joint which enables you to tilt the monitor. There is a screw at the top of the joint which you tighten/lose to change the angle of the monitor. This ball and socket piece is the weakness in the part. Because of the weight of my monitor, no matter how much I tighten the screw, the monitor still sags. I bought this because it looked really nice and the price was great. If I ship this back, when it's all said and done, with all the fees, it wouldn't be worth it. Spend the money the first time people:)

This is ok for permanent position but not great if you want to move it often. Also, we could not adjust the front tilt angle part, until we took it apart and removed one of the washers. With 2 washers it is impossible to tighten the knob. Every time you move the screen, the front knob needs to be readjusted, and it is difficult. Maybe the ones for double or triple this price have better joints and controls.

Good for the money,
By My only complaint is the the heads of the screws are VERY SOFT. They got pretty chewed up screwing them into the wall when installing and if I ever move it, I will probably need a pair of vise grips to grab the heads and unscrew them. |
