Boy did I pick the right camera.

I am just looking to record my front yard in case anyone tries anything cute.

What I did is combined the camera with a MyGica Capit USB capture card to plug it into my laptop.

The software I am using is the free for one camera Vitamin D video... wonderful software

The results are perfect. This camera is sturdy, durable, crystal clear, sees in the darkness, and easily adjustable. Basically I got a complete surveillance system for little more than the price of this camera and the 17 bucks for the capture card.

Only downside is no PTZ. But I wasn't even looking for that and don't care about it.

( I forgot to mention one thing... I would advise you buy the 100 ft VideoSecu power and video cable on this site... it comes with the adapter you need as well. The camera itself only has a short cord and needs an adapter for an RCA jack )

We bought this to expand our security system. It is a good value for the money. The resolution is pretty good, especially for distance less than 30 feet. Beyond that it is a little vague. The IR illumination is ok, but close objects end up washed out and more distant objects are not visible at all. Installation was pretty easy, but there were no real instructions at all and no template for the mounting holes. The mounting holes are ALMOST just the right size to mount to a standard ceiling box. I would not consider this mounting to be vandal proof, as it can be moved, disconnected and re-aimed form outside with no tools. The camera seems pretty resistant to fogging and operates well at all the temperatures we have encountered so far.

So I bought one camera first to replace the one that came with the system and was blown away I was so happy I bought four more from AMARKET IMPORTS Inc. Delivery was super quick only 3 days in transit that is fast to me when I asked for super free shipping!!

Okay now down to business about the cams.

Pros:

Super easy to install they come with a plug so you can cut off the end of the plug and splice it to the camera

Cameras are sleek not like 7-11 style they look good on the house. Picture is really good way better than the Costco cameras. Night time really lights up well and day time is great too but have notices when it gets really sunny out you get a washout but goes away. That is about it. I would buy more of these if I had more channels on my DVR.

Got this cam to deter our local gas thieves, so was only concerned about its night vision. Am still experimenting with it, but I can I.D. people from 30 to 35 feet in total darkness. Easy to install and a great deal for the price. Daytime vision is good in shady areas, but bright sunlight seems to wash out the picture a bit. I.R. LEDs are visible at night, but hopefully this will help as a deterrent.

I've worked in the security industry a long time. I've seen a lot of bad cheap cameras. This, is a GREAT cheap camera.

The IR does not splash back into the lens, this is because the glass over the lens is independent from the glass over the IR LEDs. It's not the cheesy foam ring around the lens setup, this is truly 2 sets of glass (The right way to do it, and rare on a cheap camera)
The LED illumination is quite evenly spread out, and reaches effectively about 25' or so in my experience so far, without a hard hot spot in the middle.
The IRs and the camera imager processing are adjusted to be really well in tune with each other.
The lens FOV is about 85+ degrees (almost 90 degrees) from the glass.
It is a turret dome design, with all metal housing, with the outer ring that screws down over the base to hold the ball in place. It is a 4 piece design. (base, ring, hood, ball) It goes together very easily.
Low noise, good color, good light sensitivity.
Bonus, it includes the power adapter and surveillance warning sticker that pro installers don't care about, but consumer end-users will appreciate.

Cons: Screwing down the hood secures the camera fine, but not from a vandal resistant stand point. Some can still easily grab and turn the camera to a different angle (it's not super tight). So if it's in a public place, mount it out of reach.
The cable is not sealed where it enters the ball housing. (during assembly the cable has to move through the back) I solved this by adding some silicon around where the cable enters the ball to keep ambient moisture out. easy. The rest of it seems pretty water resistant.
There is some minor vignetting but it's not too dramatic. (slightly darker areas in the corners of the image)

Bang for the buck, you can't beat this. I'm ordering additional units now. I've got two watching my driveway, and they work great.

This is a very well built little dome camera. The case is all metal construction and tamper resistant. Good resolution and color, low light works great, and the picture is clear. I got this to replace a Vonnic dome camera. The Vonnic had problems with too much color saturation in the picture, this one looks better, much sharper image quality and even color. I would absolutely recommend this camera.
