If you are an absolute beginner, have no experience whatsoever with video, and/or have never been on youtube, then this is the book for you.

For everyone else, do not buy this book.

I was very shocked because I subscribe to Videomaker Magazine so I was expecting more detailed information from the book, but the problem here is how simple, old, and sparse the information is. Am I wrong? Is this book not from the editors of Videomaker Magazine?

Basically, they took all their articles from past issues and copy-and-pasted them into a book. That's it. They didn't even bother to update the old articles.

There are so many better books on video making on Amazon, avoid this one. You'll even learn more if you visit Videomaker's youtube channel and that's free.

This is one of the books used in my class at the Academy of Art University. This book has an abundance of very useful information that pertains to real world experiences. It is a compilation of field writings from various experts in their chosen fields.

This book is unique in that the many professionals who wrote each chapter have something very valuable to contribute to what it is they're talking about. As opposed to a single author trying to know it all. I love this book and found it to be a great wealth if critical information. Why re-invent when you can learn from others who have walked the paths before us.

I needed this course for a digital video course I'm taking. The book is pretty long, I believe there are over 60 chapters, but the good thing is they are all short. The longest I've read so far was 7 pages. The chapters don't try to overkill you with details, although at times I wish it did, but probably better that is doesn't. The book gives you enough details for what you need without overkilling you. I've already learned so much in the 7 chapters I've read.

Maybe this book was written for someone more technical. The production planning aspects of video book was insightful, but the technical aspects seemed to be written for someone who already knows the ins and outs of video production. If you are at the intermediate level in video production, this book would probably be helpful to you. I should have probably started with "Digital Video for Dummies."

Gives a great overview for most anything an up and coming producer would need to know.
I strongly recommend this book for any who are interested in the field of video production.

I'm using this to train someone internationally on video taping and editing. It looks like it will be a really good resource for our time together. I haven't actually started the training yet.
