4.0 out of 5 stars Fun for Traveling/Great for 3 Year Old, November 20, 2004

I wanted this item for a 12 hour plane trip in February but started searching and buying in September. Now in November it's sold out here and in most stores. We have used ours for about 3 weeks now and my daughter loves that she can turn it on and off by herself. She could change the PVDs by herself, but in order to keep her fingerprints off of them I do it myself. The PVDs come in a great selection IF you can find them. The screen is small but has an impressively clear picture and there is a dial to adjust the contrast for different lighting situations.I can't wait to take this on our plane trip because I LOVE to watch Dora and Sesame Street as much as my daughter does! I have also purchased the Video Now Color headphones and the Video Now Jr. case.

I bought this for my 5 yr old special needs child. She absolutely loves it. It makes waiting in lines, long car rides bareable. I think an adapter for this toy would be good. We are going through batteries like crazy!! More Barney movies would be good too!

Tip for when the screen goes black-- You need new batteries. Trust me I should know.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Toddlers, May 20, 2005

My brother bought my daughter an Elmo VideoNow disk for Christmas thinking it was a regular DVD. We waited until now to get her the player as she was just barely 2 in December (6 months can make a lot of difference at this age). We just got her the player and she loves it. She figured out how it works in no time flat. She knows colors and shapes so the colored, shaped buttons sort of reinforce what she already knows. It seems very durable but I suggest getting the carrying case to help protect against spills, etc. It also has a handle and a place to store a few extra disks. One reviewer was disappointed that it did not come with a disk but ours did. It came with some previews of Nick Jr shows and a full length episode of Dora. As for the batteries, it does drain them but like another reviewer said, get rechargables. I think this is a nice alternative to a DVD player for a child so small. Even though it's a bit expensive (I only paid $50 for ours at Walmart) it is still cheaper than a portable DVD and more durable too.
