Doug Fields has been in youth ministry for almost 20 years. He has written 20 books including Creative Dating, The One-Minute Bible for Students, and Purpose Driven Youth Ministry. With an M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary, Doug is a youth pastor at Saddleback Church and frequent presenter at Youth Specialties events. Eddie James has done student ministry for 11 years, beginning at Saddleback Church, where he spent 7 years in youth and drama ministries. Currently one-half of the Texas-based drama and comedy duo, Skit Guys, he lives in Waco and works at First Baptist Woodway Church as a youth associate

More About the Author

Doug Fields graduated from Southern California College in 1984 (now Vanguard), and received his MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1986. Doug has served as a youth pastor for 25 years, and has been teaching pastor at Saddleback Church since 1992. Doug has been a global youth ministry leader through his books, speaking and youth ministry resources. He is the award-winning author of more than 40 books, many of which serve as curriculum in Seminaries and Bible Colleges. Besides speaking regularly to teenagers and the congregation of Saddleback Church, Doug can also be found speaking to youth workers around the world. Doug would say his greatest accomplishment is marrying way out of his league to his wife Cathy of 23 years. They have three teenage children: Torie, Cody, and Cassie.

If you're tired of kids not truly grasping the meat of the message, the suggested clips will leave them wanting more. Videos That Teach lays out an easy-to-find-topic topical guide as well as scripture references. You just can't lose. This book is definitely a must for ministry with the only downfall being a few R rated movie titles deal with. They cancel themselves out right there with trying to keep the bar of excellence high. Other than that it has revolutionized many a message with some incredible clips from some of today's top movies.

The copy of this book that I own is covered in soda stains, is never on the bookshelf and the pages are all gummed up from me working with them. How is that for a review of a book? I never put this book away and it is several years old. Get this one. Looking forward to my copy of Videos that Teach 2.

In this book, Doug Fields offers hindreds of illustrations based on contemposrary films. Dealing with subjects such as sin, racism, and love these suggestions are a great "hook" to your messages on hundreds of hot topics. Doug has organized these titles aphabetically but the index helps you sort them by theme. Using the films in this book can really enhance your teaching and your minstry. It is a practical help that is guarenteed to get a positive response from teens and leaders alike.
