OK here it goes: Vietcong 2 is a great game despite the lack of jungle fever meaning instead of fighting through the jungles of vietnam you fight through the urban jungle of Hue City in S. Vietnam battling through the Tet Ofensive of 68'.

I like combat games when you have choices. You are able to clean out the town or area you are in. Not so in this one. I had fun with it. Maybe it just me.

OK here it goes: Vietcong 2 is a great game despite the lack of jungle fever meaning instead of fighting through the jungles of vietnam you fight through the urban jungle of Hue City in S. Vietnam battling through the Tet Ofensive of 68'.

The atmosphere in the U.S. campaign is pretty intense because you battle through the streets of Hue City and from house to house, building to building, street to street urban fighting. Though short, the campaign improves the gameplay with great cut sceens and imersion factor raised a bar. The Vietcong campaign is way to short but includes some jungle fighting as you make your way to Hue City.

Graphics are right on par with this series and since I have a powerful rig, I was able to use the highest settings for the game. The detail looks better than in 2003 Vietcong but for some reason the vegitation looks the same or close to what it looked like in Vietcong.

Sound is great from authenic weapon sounds to explosions to dialog that makes you feel your accually there.

Replay value is weak but like Viecong 1 you can replay the missions on any diffucult level and even go to multiplayer for some head to head dm, tdm, ctf, or coop play. The coop play only has four maps and I would like to see this extended because playing against the bots is a blast alone or with some friends just like the single player campaign. Hopefully they will release some more coop maps here soon or release a map editor so players can design their own maps for coop and other types of multiplayer game types.

Overall, a great sequal to the Vietcong series. Most reviewers are giving this bad reviews because of it's brief campaigns and lack of replay value but don't be fooled, I've played a lot of war shooters and the Vietcong series including this one is one of the best!

I originally loved the Vietcong demo and the online shoot em up that this game offers. So it was natural for me to want to get the latest offering on the series. I was not disappointed with what I got. First of all, I am stationed in Afghanistan, and I highly expected that it would be around 2-3 weeks before I got my product, but Amazon was very quick and timely in shipping this item to me in only 10 days from the US to my hands on this base. Excellent product, and worth every dollar it costed to pay for it!

I realize I'm in the minority here, but I loved VC2. True, they (mostly) lost the jungle setting of the original game, and the original game is a classic that's hard to top, but Pterodon Studios is the same developer that made the first game, and it shows. Gameplay is still excellent, just in a different setting. I thought a lot of the level design was superb. A lot of the settings are still burned into my mind. The opening levels are a bit unintentionally humorous...for instance, you are at a party wandering around amongst the guests, and the 'fire' button causes you to raise your wineglass in a toast. But it's actually part of the story, so I had no problem with that.

The game's engine appears to be a slightly updated version of the engine used in the original game. For me, this meant that my framerates were pretty low, even considering my high-end (for the time) machine. I was one of those that thought the graphics engine was actually beautiful to look at, however, it could have used more optimization to get it to run faster. I finished both games just fine, but there were many times my framerates would fall below 20 fps, and it didn't matter how I tweaked the graphics settings. So if you buy this game, be prepared. You may have trouble with framerates no matter what you do. But even then, I think it's a great game to have.

I'm a fan of the COD and MOH series WWII games and am less attracted to jungle war games. I didn't enjoy MOH:PA as much as the European theater games. I also didn't care for Men of Valor that much. This game differs from many of the Vietnam war games in that it takes place mostly in the city. While some reviewers see that as a negative, I see it as a positive. Just a personal preference. In fact, I have to credit Amazon reviews for pointing out the urban setting which is the reason I bought it.

I thought the graphics, weapon selection, and game play were good enough for the game to be enjoyable even in 2009. The game has auto-saves as well as a limited number of manual saves. The number of manual saves depends on the difficulty level. I played on HARD, so I got three. Playing on NORMAL gets ten manual saves. The difficulty level also controls how easily you get killed. The difficulty settings seem about average. I normally play on the default difficulty, but was able to play this on HARD with only a few occasions where I used all my saves sooner than I should have.

The story line was tied to historic events giving the game some educational value like the MOH and COD games. An interesting twist is that you get to play the part of a Vietcong after you complete the American campaign. I found that to be a nice bonus.

The game didn't take a long time to get through, but it is definitely worth the $15 I paid for it.

Military games are not what I usualy play , but this one was an exception.
I love fps games and this one just happened to be military.
Actualy it gave me a little peek into history that I might not have gotten otherwise. The intricate details of the housing , citadel ect were neat to see. The idea that the game was from first hand accounts was amazing and made me feel like I was someone going back in time. The weapons were interesting and seemed real. You felt a kinship with the group you were with. " I need a medic , stat " The graphics suited me well. some of the leafy trees seemed a bit flat but for the most part most things looked fairly crisp. I did miss the familiar saying from the first vietcong " vc over there " !!! Oh , and the game was way too short.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Shooter, November 27, 2007

I just purchased it at EB games for 5 bucks! I have always wanted to purchase a copy of this so I was really excited.

There are 5 discs which come with the game which brought me back to the good old days. This game is highly enjoyable even in 2007-2008! There are still quite a few people who play this online as well.

Game is pretty challenging. You will have a rough time even if you are an experienced shooter fan. For the price here on amazon it is a must because of the great gameplay and graphics for 05.

Similiar to battlefield 2 IMHO

Sorry for the short and mumbled review...

I picked this up at big lot's for 6 bucks and I still feel like i've been ripped off, I can't understand the high system requirments for this game when the graphics look like they are from a game from 1999! I have amd athlon 64 3500+ 2.0gigs of ram, nvidia geforce 7600gs oc 512mb graphics card, soundblaster audigy 4. my system eats up most games on max settings for breakfast! but this game chugged along like a turtle with 3 legs! stay away from this pile!

I wish I could tell you how good the gameplay is - but my game would not install. Repeated emails to their customer support address and inquiries at their website yielded no response at all.

(At least the other reviewer got rude responses...)

I would avoid games from this company.
The game would not run, and their tech suppport does not respond to calls for assistance.
