Back when I first started my gaming career, my aunt gave me a game called Vietnam: Black Ops. I popped it in, started to play, and died repeatedly. I spit the cd out and didn't play it again for awhile. Once I learned to play with a keyboard and mouse, I gave it another shot. I sat here for hours on end and killed soldiers left and right. I loved this game so much that years lated I still have it and let it sit next to Crysis, Oblivion, F.E.A.R., Half-Life 2, and Bioshock. At such a bargain price, it's worth the money.

First off, this was originally released as a budget shooter. It's nothing spectacular, but it's a very good simple shooter with plenty of creative level design and a good sense of atmosphere. And the sniping is lots of fun. It's a single-player-only game, but it's one of my favorite budget shooters of all time, in spite of the blasting the professional critics gave it at the time. I've played it through many times over the years whenever I want to escape to another place. Better yet was the sequel "Vietnam 2: Special Assignment" (which contained one of my all-time favorite SP level designs ever in "The Burnt Out City"). Good luck finding either of these games. And I was not able to get either of them running in XP. Both run great on my Win 95/98 machines (Pentium II's) however. I'm using a VooDoo 2 video card under Glide. I can't tell you how it would work with any other old video card using DirectX however. So buy with caution. YMMV and all that.
