Editorial Reviews

This collection of Vietnam era training films made for the US Marines and Army in the late 1960s and early 1970s, introduce various concepts in basic training and boot camp. Included are the color shorts 1-Your First 80 Days, 2-This is Parris Island, 3-And A Few Good Men, and 4-It's Up To You. Watch real Marine and Army men exercising, assembling guns, having target practice, swimming in full gear, running the obstacle courses, doing maneuvers, going on bivouack, having bayonet practice, parade drilling, and even KP duty! See tough looking drill sargeants put the new recuits through the paces, the old school way!

This is a fascinating collection of shorts. Although they were produced for the government, they show a side of the Vietnam era that is compelling and disturbing. You cannot wathc these films without thinking of Full Metal Jacket. But this is the real deal shot at Parris Island, South Carolina where Marines are trained. You'll feel like a girly man compared to these trainees and what they have to endure. Watch them crawling under barbed wire, climbing walls and ropes, swimming while carrying a rifle, being gassed, and more. All while the drill sargeant glears daggers at you! Amazing.
