This review is from: Vietnam: The Politics of Bureaucratic Socialism (Politics and International Relations of Southeast Asia) (Hardcover)
All I can about this book is that it was great, but is now outdated. It provides a very clear picture of Vietnamese politics in the late 1980s, but much has changed since then. This book is useful for historical research and understanding the dynamics in the late 1970s, early 1980s. I would highly recommend the first chapter to anybody, as it interweaves the country's history with its authoritarian tendencies, and convincingly roots authoritarianism in ecological and economic crisis in the past.
