A moving collection that inspires and embraces an era., February 16, 1999

"Vietnam Long Time Coming" is a must have for all Springsteen fans out there. "Shut Out The Light," a song that was written and composed along with "Born in the USA" in the early 80's, is the feature track on the album. It is a piece that explores the difficulties of American boys returning home from a war torn Vietnam to a country that was equally unforgiving. The song is featured in "Vietnam Long Time Coming," the award winning documentary, from World T.E.A.M. Sports and the creators of "Hoop Dreams," that revisits with those same American men and women, some 30 years later, on a trip back to present day Vietnam. It is the story from which this soundtrack is inspired. Emmylou Harris, Shawn Colvin, Soul Asylum, Richie Havens, and Ben Sidran complete the album with music thematic of the message conveyed in the inspiring film. "Vietnam Long Time Coming," a film by World T.E.A.M. Sports, will be broadcast on NBC April 17, 1999 at 4:00pm (EST).
