My Review of Vietnam,
This review is from: The Vietnam War (America at War (Facts on File)) (Hardcover)
I enjoyed reading this book because Isserman describes in great detail the war and how it came to be. He not only uses true and astonishing facts about the war that I did not know, but he also provides real quotes and passages written by the soldiers during the time of the war. I also read first-hand accounts of how many of our political figures went about addressing the war publicly and privately. My favorite part of the book was learning about the reality of the war. I realized that many of the soldiers were not that much older than me and that they had to go through some of the most mentally terrifying and physically harsh times in the history of the United States. I also liked reading all of the background of the war so I know who was responsible for what and who was behind the enemy forces. Overall the book was fun to read because it was very factual and very formal. I suggest that you read it if you really want to know what went down in Vietnam.

Vietnam Vet Opinion,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Vietnam War (America at War (Facts on File)) (Hardcover)
I recieved this book in a timely manner. It is used, but there were no signs of wear and tear. In fact, I thought it was new when I opened the package. I am very pleased with the condition of the book.
I bought the book because I am a Vietnam combat veteran. As I age, I find that the anger and fustration I felt towards the Vietnamese people was unwarranted, and needed to find a fresh perspective towards the people and their culture. I reviewed this book and thought it a good way to start some healing. I wanted a brief history of why we were there. This book gave me a very good understanding of the events that led up to the war, the key players involved, and how the escalation occurred. I would recommend this book to others for the same reasons I read it, and for the curious who are exploring it for the first time. I believe that it would be a good starter book for younger readers, ages around 13-14.
