From School Library Journal
Gr 6-9-For students who know little or nothing about Vietnam and the Vietnam War, this concise, seven-chapter volume presents a good overview. The brief history of the country and its people is interesting and leads readers into the causes of the war and the initial involvement of the United States. Social and political causes and reactions are explored. The book is well written and easy to read, but the numerous black-and-white photographs and maps are of poor quality. While this series entry is a quick read, students doing detailed research on the subject will need to seek out more in-depth resources.-Valerie Childress, J.W. Holloway Middle School, Whitehouse, TX
