5.0 out of 5 stars Best Biblical novel I ever read.
View from above is one of the best biblical novels I ever read. It moves through the entire bible story in a quick less than 150 page read. It is ingenious how it connect the first human character with the final character Jesus. the way each character in the 66 books of the Bible interact with one another is very clever. If you're going to write a book from God's voice... you've better make sure you've got your theology down pat.
I'm sorry to say this book carries a dim view of God.

Positively awful.
Pick up a book by Chan or Platt or Carson, then read this and you'll want to cry from a lack of captivation at the wonder of God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Biblical novel I ever read., August 13, 2011
This review is from: View from Above (Paperback)
View from above is one of the best biblical novels I ever read. It moves through the entire bible story in a quick less than 150 page read. It is ingenious how it connect the first human character with the final character Jesus. the way each character in the 66 books of the Bible interact with one another is very clever. Although it seems to have been out of print for quite a while I managed to find a copy at a local thrift store so apparently it is not impossible to find. The back of the book had tear out sheets and I learned it was written as sort of an introduction to the bible to get people interested who did not have time to read the entire 2000 pages. I would recommend this book to anyone. Yes there are a few typos but nothing bothersome.

5.0 out of 5 stars View From Above Must Reading, June 25, 2009
This review is from: View From Above (Paperback)
View from above was written for those whom have never read the Bible. It was meant to be a fast review from Creation to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and his triumph over Satan. Care was taken to make sure it did not go contrary to scripture but liberty was taken in a type of historical fiction style to keep the book moving and interesting.

Over 300,000 people in Arizona and through the USA (prisons mostly) received a free copy of the book. Many got a complimentary copy from either a free bookstand or hand delivered to their vehicle windshield. The methods of selling books one by one were judged to be too archaic for a book so needed by so many who have no concept at all of the Bible due to it's ban from our public school system over the last 30 years.

So if you get a chance and you can handle a few misspelled words grab a copy of this book and see for yourself how much God loves you and the great price Jesus paid to enable you to have a real relationship with the creator of the universe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatestr Bible story even, October 22, 2011
This review is from: View from Above (Paperback)
With over 300,000 copies in print distributed throughout the USA this is one of the best biblical reviews of all time..I kid you not you can really get an interest going in the Bible if you read this book. Unfortunately there are not many copies still available. Oh well guess we will have to wait for the movie to come out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Religious Tract, December 9, 2005

I kid you not: I came across this book when someone left it under the windshield wiper of my car while I was at class. That's the level we're dealing with concerning this book. It's rife with spelling and grammatical errors, and the plot, to what extent one exists, is basically a rehashing of major Old Testament events, with the climax, of course, being the coming of Jesus. The writing itself is pretty pedestrian; it's not often cringe inducing, but it does lack any kind of originality. The author puts us through the paces, and never bothers to surprise the reader with anything novel. Additionally, I sometimes felt that Stewart was playing fast and loose with scripture, and tailoring his story to be less offensive to those that do not believe that the Bible is the ultimate blueprint for good living. God gets a complete pass, and there is never any departure from conventional wisdom concerning major Biblical figures. His descriptions and names for demons are unintentionally comic. He throws in a little Medievalism by letting demons mate with human women on a tremendous scale (in fact, women get it bad in this book; you would be hard pressed to find a truly positive description of any women). And one more minor criticism: Stewart apparently has no grasp on how quickly the human population reproduces, or how many people the earth can realistically hold. He makes the claim that the antideluvian earth had a population of 300 billion. Uh, yeah. The believers may find this book tolerable, but I suspect even they will not be enthralled by it. As for anyone not already a member of the choir, if you find this book under your windshield, don't bother taking it home.
