I was very disappointed to learn that ViewSonic's remote control codes are NOT compatible with any other remote control. ViewSonic is not part of the Universal Remote Codes classification. The picture is awesome ! I have had this tv about 2 weeks and there is only 1 real negative. The bad is there is NO remote code for this tv. I called tech support and they could not give me any code. I got a Samsung T-451 HD tuner hooked up those stupid rabbit ears and viola I had HD tv. I was impressed even though it was 720p.I use this tv as my computer monitor set at 1024x768 and it looks great. The whole screen is filled up and it doesn't look distorted. I had read some negative reviews about the sound on this tv, but the sound is awesome. It has 2-way speakers and I only turn the sound up to about 1/4 volume and it is great. The inputs are broken up into two banks one digital and one analog. You can't put two digital inputs in the main & pip and vice versa, but you can 1 analog & 1 digital.
You can watch SAT thru comp. or s-vid and put the computer in PIP but only if you have eyes of a hawk since the pip is about 7" diag. I ordered a dvi-d cable for the hd tuner to see if the picture is any better in HDTV than from using the 15pin d-sub computer cable. There is quite a bit of heat coming from the front of the screen but I think that is normal. A friend reccommended that I buy a UPS with AVR and I did for precautionary reasons ( Belkin F6C550-AVR ). Overall I really like this tv , I give it about 4.5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Set, November 19, 2005
This review is from: ViewSonic N2750w 27-Inch NextVision HD-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV, Black (Electronics)
I received this TV and all I can saw is WOW. Just an awesome picture, and the speakers are excellent. When I got this TV I wasnt expecting a top notch set. First the specs on Amazon are wrong, this TV has much higher specs than is listed. I went to Viewsonics site after buying and found the specs to be top notch 176x176 viewing angle, and a much higher contrast, (Amazon list's contrast at 600:1 and it is actually 900:1) I think the specs may be from an older model. A 27" TV for almost half what others are charging for a 26". Viewsonic is also a top notch LCD manufacturer, so it made perfect sense, instead of buying from an appliance company. Very happy 5 of 5 stars both for price and quality

So far the quality and picture seem to be very good on this LCD. I am using it as a TV in the bedroom where we have Tivo and DirecTV. I was very disappointed to learn that ViewSonic's remote control codes are NOT compatible with any other remote control. ViewSonic is not part of the Universal Remote Codes classification. So we are stuck using two remotes. In the grand scheme of things, using two remotes is not that big of a deal, but I wish I would have done more research and learned this before I purchased the ViewSonic because I would have purchased a different brand. I know that Logitech makes a $90 remote that learns codes and that may be the best long-term solution.

Good picture quality, resolution, colors. Sound is OK. Does not have code for remote. So works with only its remote.

I've had this TV/Monitor for a couple of weeks. I primarily Purchased it, to serve as a PC monitor, and to aslo watch movies on.

I play Games online, such as World of Warcraft, and they look awesome. Friends and Family have commented on how great it looks. not to mention if we decide to watch DVD's. the picture is beautiful.

takes up minimal space on my desk and easy to use.

downfalls. You can hear a slight hum of the video procesors. this quicly faded away into the backgroud of ambient sound.
As a monitor the screen size is limited to 1280x1024, and some text can be a little fuzzy, if running through lower end connections (i.e. VGA as opposed to DV)

all in all, i love it, and it was worth every penny. you will not find a comparable system in the same price range.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 27 Inch LCD, November 28, 2005
This review is from: ViewSonic N2750w 27-Inch NextVision HD-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV, Black (Electronics)
This is simply a great deal for a high quality brand in Displays. I primarily bought this to serve as a display for my computer and to watch tv. The TV is amazing with even an analog cable signal but in HD it is pretty amazing. The 16:9 viewing aspect adds to the quality when watching dvd's. Computer wise on 16:9 it is pretty amazing. I disagree with other comments of ghosting while watching action movies. I played UT2004 and perfect dark and didn't expirence any ghosting on the screen. Also another review said in reference to resolution that 1280:1024 was a bit blurry and all thats the lcd could support. That is completely wrong, I admit that 1280:1024 is blurry in 16:9 (1152:864 looks the best) BUT the lcd can handle resolutions of 1600:1200 but that is all dependent on the capabilities of your video card. Overall the monitor is incredible. I recommend upgrading your video card to support a deeper resolution and possibly hd output.

2.0 out of 5 stars My N2750 failed twice within 13 months, June 15, 2007
This review is from: ViewSonic N2750w 27-Inch NextVision HD-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV, Black (Electronics)
I bought my N2750w in April of 2006. In October of 2006 it started flaking out until all I would get is a blue screen and sometimes sound. It was not very heavily used - my wife and I just used it to watch the nightly news in our bedroom. The warranty return went without a hitch - I dropped the set off at the Walnut, Calif. headquarters, and about 3 weeks later the TV showed up at my front door. We put it back into the bedroom. Roughly 8 and a half months later, it just stopped working - turning it on results in nothing - no lights, no sound. I called Viewsonic, but because it is now more than a year since the original receipt, it is no longer under warranty. I used to think Viewsonic made high quality products, but to have two failures in 13 months sort of makes me think otherwise. So buyer beware - for $800, I was expecting this LCD TV to last more than 13 months. Viewsonic gave the number of a local out of warranty service center. I'm still wondering if I should get it fixed or not.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price-Follow-up: IT'S DEAD, June 19, 2006
This review is from: ViewSonic N2750w 27-Inch NextVision HD-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV, Black (Electronics)
This is a follow-up to my previous review:
The picture died on me a month ago (Aug 07). It has something to do with the tv tuner. The LCD display and backlights are still great, but the TV tuner, which was always very very weak (bad signal and popping sounds), finally just died. I called Viewsonic several times in the year that I owned it, but they said it was normal, or sent me off on some bogus diagnostic goose chase. Two months after the 1 year warranty was over it died. DRATS!!! VIEWSONIC, YOU'VE FOILED ME THIS TIME. HOPE YOU HAD A GREAT PARTY WITH MY MONEY. I found a Samsung 32" as a replacement; out-of-box so I got it real cheap, and I spent the money for a three year warranty through the store! I love mail order, but sometimes you can really get screwed.

-----------------
The TV picture isn't as good as a tube (no suprise!), but the dvd picture as great!
Remote is ok, and the features are easy enough to find, but I can't find remote codes for a universal. I used a cheap programmable remote to input all the features I wanted; it took about 20 minutes, and it works fine. I had to do the same thing for my dvd player and some of the features on my vcr: lesson learned- buy a programmable remote! (less than 20 bucks).

The input options are easy to find, if somewhat limited. I am able to adjust the settings to get a pretty good picture. The info on the manual is very limited, but it appears that each input remembers its settings, so you don't have to readjust the TV input when you switch from the DVD input.

Beautiful cabinet, and small footprint for a 27" widescreen. FYI, the picture is about 50% smaller than a 27" square tube for a standard 4:3 tv broadcast, but it's about 18% larger for a widescreen (16:9) broadcast or dvd.

Strange problem: the remote doesn't work if the backlight is set to 'dark' or 'medium', but it works fine of it is set to 'bright'. I guess I'll be shipping it back to ViewSonic to get it fixed. Otherwise, I am very happy with this machine for the price.

Ok, first this is not a true HD set (720 not 1080) and the video scaling is sub-par. Lots of heat from panel. It does have a myriad of connection options and it works reasonably well as a computer monitor (when set to 4:3 mode). Had this about three weeks now and it is generally a very good mixed use (PC/TV) panel at a very good price. If you are looking for picture clarity and quality for just TV use, look elsewhere, ghosting occurs in action movies and games and even with progressive scan hook up for DVDs, picture is average. Sound quality is fantastic compared to most sets but headphone jack is in back of set (hard to reach).

I agree with just about everything people are saying on here about this TV. Great picture, tons of connection options and, yeah, having no remote codes is a pain. I got this to use as a combination TV/PC Monitor and the picture was more than fine - until last week. This just happens to coincide with the 13th month of owning it. Started noticing dark streaks on the blue screen you get when the set is switched to an unused input. Now the picture, as TV or monitor, is just fading slowly - darker and darker. At this rate, I figure I only have a week, maybe two, before I'm back in the stores looking for a new TV. I'm hoping this is just a case of getting what you pay for. I bought it because it looked like a bargain price for it's size and the options. But $500 a year for throw-away televisions doesn't seem like much of a bargain to me.
To top it all off, it seems Viewsonic is quite pleased to have my money. The emails I've sent to get some help have been simply ignored. That's pretty good considering what I read on their home page.

"At ViewSonic, we are devoted to customer satisfaction and committed to positive relationships with every company and individual with whom we do business. We strive to understand your interests and concerns, and treat you with respect, courtesy and consideration. ViewSonic's customer and technical support are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

Yeah, right...
