5.0 out of 5 stars Great monitor for the price
I had this monitor for 3 years now and have not had a single problem with it. It plays games well, has good picture quality (not ultra sharp or ultra bright though), and does a good job of displaying CAD applications. I never had a problem with Viewsonic and have faith in their products. Also do not be fooled by negative reviews. After all it is usually the people who...

3.0 out of 5 stars Slight misnomer & great disappointment
Although the words "Perfect Flat" are part of its designation, the viewing screen of this CRT is not flat; The top glass is flat, but the tube underneath is slightly but annoyingly curved. This cannot be corrected even with its (generous) manual controls. I do photographic and image work and for higher viewing accuracy, flatter is better; You don't want your image...

I purchased the ViewSonic E90fb and was very pleased with the monitor. The picture started to get narrow and the horzintal width was finally set at 100%. I called the company explained my problem and they sent me a new monitor and I shipped the bad one back. No hasseles and they paid for shipping both ways. Great product and great service

Although the words "Perfect Flat" are part of its designation, the viewing screen of this CRT is not flat; The top glass is flat, but the tube underneath is slightly but annoyingly curved. This cannot be corrected even with its (generous) manual controls. I do photographic and image work and for higher viewing accuracy, flatter is better; You don't want your image trailing off at the edges! I also agree with the other reviewer: This monitor is not as bright or sharp as it seems it should be, especially since it's called a "Graphic Series" monitor. Although they're more expensive, I'll look for a true Trinitron next time.

FEB 2007 UPDATE - - This reviewed monitor has given up the ghost; Even after adjusting, re-calibrating, rebooting, and all the regular "fixes", this CRT's sharpness, brightness, color, and definition have all deteriorated to an unacceptable, unusable level. I'm left with a fuzzy blob after less than 2 years' use. Star rating was 3 stars, now one star (one for having "worked" for about 1 year after purchase new.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Monitor., May 29, 2008

This review is from: ViewSonic E90FB 19" Perfect Flat CRT Monitor (Electronics)
Although there are a lot of bad reviews for this monitor, I think most are problems that can be avoided. I find this monitor to be a bit sensitive to other devices being plugged into the same plug. For example, my desk fan, when "on", it creates a terrible refresh rate on the monitor. When my desk light is "on", it creates a little refresh rate disturbance in the bottom corners. I just plugged those into another plug and problem solved. This Viewsonic 19" monitor has a great refresh rate, not noticeable, that's how it should be.
I also have a Viewsonic 17" E70fb and it is not sensitive like this one, but it is not a big problem to me, if the source is recognized.
This 19" monitor has superb brightness, I have my contrast all the way up, but the brightness is down to 25% and it is still bright.
I use 1280x1024 resolution. I tried 1200x1600 but did not work good, it may be my computer though.
Once I adjusted and centered everything, the page is perfectly square and fits just right. This monitor is huge and heavy.
I have found Viewsonics to be long lasting monitors.

5.0 out of 5 stars ViewSonic E90FB Best Monitor, January 19, 2008
This review is from: ViewSonic E90FB 19" Perfect Flat CRT Monitor (Electronics)
This monitor has been great for the 3 1/2 years that I have had it. No problems at all. The text and graphics is clear and colorful. I have not had ANY of the problems the other reviewers have had. I ordered this from Dell with my new computer in July of 2003 and it has worked flawlessly since then!!! I would buy another ViewSonic in a NY minute!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Computer Product I've Ever Owned, September 20, 2006
This review is from: ViewSonic E90FB 19" Perfect Flat CRT Monitor (Electronics)
I bought a Viewsonic E90FB in early 2005 because it was recommended by SharkeyExtreme.com. At first it worked fine, although I was afraid it was going to make the monitor shelf on my computer desk collapse due to its weight.

However, after a game tried to set the monitor to a too-high refresh rate, the monitor began displaying ghostly vertical lines off to the side of onscreen objects. I called customer support and arranged to send the monitor back to have it replaced.

To make a long story short, the replacement unit had the exact same problem, so I sent it back too. After the second and third replacement units developed the SAME problem, I began to sense an emerging pattern. So I bought a Samsung LCD and sold the Viewsonic to a friend. Shortly thereafter, my friend told me that the monitor had quit working entirely, so he gave it back to me and I sent it off to Viewsonic yet again.

Seven months later, I received my latest replacement unit. So far it seems to be working all right. I use the term loosely, as top edge of the picture is crooked, and the image onscreen actually changes size when you open or close some programs. The case of the monitor is also obviously used, and has several cosmetic blemishes.

Viewsonic is not going to get another penny of my money, and if this latest monitor develops problems I just may lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

2.0 out of 5 stars ViewSonic E90FB and Cell Phones, December 29, 2006
This review is from: ViewSonic E90FB 19" Perfect Flat CRT Monitor (Electronics)
My employer just replaced an aging NEC monitor with this larger View Sonic. It is nice and bright and much flatter than what I had before, but not perfectly flat. Also, it appears to be extreamly sensitive to cell phones, particularly my Blackberry. Even with the Blackberry placed a considerable distance from the monitor, on a regular basis severaly thin black lines will flicker across the screen which is quite irritating. The other thing I have noticed is that even though this monitor is larger, I still get the same resolution. I haven't found a higher resolution output that works well with this screen yet.

2.0 out of 5 stars ViewSonic E90FB 19, July 13, 2005
This review is from: ViewSonic E90FB 19" Perfect Flat CRT Monitor (Electronics)
I can't wait till I have enough money to by another monitor. This ViewSonic(E90FB 19") is dark and it rolls like a bowling ball, I have tried everything to get this to work so I can tolerate it. No refund or exchanges were offered to me when I called them up. I have two othe computers that use trintrons and they are perfectly clear,These viewsonics are greatly overrated and I will never buy one again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Got money to waste? Buy a viewsonic!, December 31, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: ViewSonic E90FB 19" Perfect Flat CRT Monitor (Electronics)
I bought this monitor because it was a top of the line model. Worked great, for only 2 years. All of the sudden, the lights went out and nobody's home. Not my card, or a cable , the clunky thing had some kinda bulb blow b/c the green light is on with NO picture. Only 2 years old and not under warranty. Also tried to get some help from customer svc. They said it was under warranty, then it wasn't and then directed me to a phone number to call for an authdealer. Phone number was a phone tree to no where. So, will I buy a Viewsonic product again? Hello no...
