LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, for example, speakers), long screen life (with no risk of image burn-in), space savings, light weight/easy positioning, and energy efficiency (most LCDs use substantially less power than their CRT equivalents). They also tend to be more affordable than their flat-panel plasma counterparts, which often (though not always) offer faster response times and higher contrast ratios.
The set's 450 cd/m2 (typical) of brightness and high 500:1 (typical) contrast ratio deliver vivid colors and sharp, life-like images that are easy to see even in bright viewing areas. Its advanced screen technology and super-fast video response time (22 ms) bring TV, video, movies, and games to life with smooth, bright, saturated color.
You can easily connect TV and video entertainment devices such as DVD players, game consoles, VCRs, and camcorders via the set's side-panel video jacks and rear-panel audio jacks. Choose from 1 each composite-video, S-video, and interlaced (non-progressive) component-video connections and an RF coaxial jack (cable included) accommodates older VCRs, cable boxes, and antennas.
Enjoy full stereo sound on your desktop or countertop with the set's pair of built-in, 2.5-watt-per-channel speakers. V-Chip parental control and closed-caption options let you tailor your viewing to your household. ViewSonic offers free 24/7 customer support (excluding major U.S. holidays).

4.0 out of 5 stars
Good picture, lack of remote codes for Tivo and others,
This review is from: ViewSonic N1300 13-Inch Flat-Panel LCD TV (Electronics)
It's a great picture and the included wall mount saves you $50 to $100 on buying a seperate mount if you need to use one.
The only negative and the reason I gave this four stars instead of 5 is that this LCD (and many other Viewsonic LCDs) don't support universal remote codes. If you intend to use this tv only, you're fine. If you want to use a Tivo with this, you will not be able to use the Tivo's built in remote codes. The same is true if you want to use a DVD or VCR with universal remote codes built in. Viewsonic LCDs don't support them. Viewsonic is not a smart company assuming people only use a tv with no other devices. Who wants to have multiple remotes cluttering up the house? I don't.
