The 800 pixel wide display is bright and sharp and the 4X3 format is usually a better fit for most snapshots than a wide screen version. The high-gloss outer frame looks decent although it's a little wide for the LCD size. Allowing storage on both USB flash drives and SD cards is a nice feature and very handy if a friend brings over some snapshots on a flash drive. I used an inexpensive Kensington 4GB card and it works fine, as do an assortment of cheap pocket flash drives.
Always starting from the first image when powered up is a minor pain and the unit does not recognize nested folders, so it's impossible to jump to different groups of images. It's best to simply leave it on all the time. I found the control push buttons to not always work properly. Occasionally a button push does not do what it's supposed to do and sometimes the buttons won't do anything at all. Powering the frame off and then back on restores control functions but means you have to start all over again with whatever you're trying to do. I also found the manual to be poorly written and it took a bit of "trial and error" to find out how to reach some control functions. The illustration of the back panel control surface is microscopic. The unit comes packaged in a large box, so there is plenty of room for a decent sized manual instead of the tiny one supplied. Finally, the supplied power adapter that I received tends to run quite hot when left on continuously. So far so good, but in my experience, small power adapters that run very hot tend to have short life spans.

Decent picture frame, no remote, no features,

This is a decent picture frame, but lacks a remote and some basic features.
The Good: The pictures look good on the 800x600 resolution screen. Accepts a USB thumbdrive. The Bad: Being that it is a Viewsonic brand, I expected better quality. Feels cheap in the hand, and sometimes the screen messes up when you turn it on. Turning it off and back on fixes it. There is no remote included, and the controls on the back are slow to respond, I don't think I'll even bother with them. Fingerprints will get all over the glossy frame. Of Note: The frame starts playing from the first picture that you copied to the memory card, so if you copy and paste, sometimes it won't start the way you expect. I learned to just drag and drop each picture to the card in the order I wanted them played, this is about the extent of the control you will have over which picture gets displayed when, there are no ways to randomize or even control whether you have transitions or not. Makes a good no-frills picture frame, which is what I wanted for my grandparents. For myself I'll need one with a remote and more features like randomizing photos, and control over transitions.

Viewsonic Digital Picture Frame,

This frame is easy to use, shows great images and is not over priced. I preferred it because of the 4:3 screen, we have many pictures taken vertically. The only negative is that it always starts at the beginning of the slide show, not where it stopped.

Got 2 of these, one for mom and one for mother in law. Put a few hundred pics on each of family and they love them. Takes camera chips or USB flash drives, you can plug it in, pop in a card and go. If you need to use the settings/menu on it, they are a pain. The control buttons are on the back of the frame and not in good order, so navigating the settings is difficult. Once you set it up though, it's great. Frame is shiny plastic that loves fingerprints, a little flash for my taste but the picture quality is great.

Picture is fine. Ratio is good for photos because most people shoot in 4:3 ratio.
Customer Service lacks knowledge. Reply after opening case number was slow. Unit lacks one major feature, you can't turn off transitions. You must have a selected digital effect between each picture. Some may like them, I don't. Other comments made are true, i.e., frame is a finger print magnet. All said, it's worth the price found at Amazon.

The first unit had to be return after about 20 days due to the frame "seizing" up about once per day. Exchange with Amazon was simple. The new one seems to be working fine. The frame itself is nice looking and the picture is very clear - much better than my old one. The only thing I wish it had was a random picture feature so that the pictures would not always go in order of the file name.

This ViewSonic frame has a nice bright picture, but I had no luck at all using an older USB flash drive. Also, some of my SD cards would display, and some not. Whatever device is used needs to have a full low-level format, preferably in FAT32. Once I discovered this, the frame seems to be working correctly. This issue is not covered in the documentation provided with the picture frame.ViewSonic VFD810-50 8-Inch High Resolution 800x600 Digital Photo Frame

Compre un artículo igual hace como un año, pero ya se me descompuso, por estar fuera del USA, no pudo reclamar la garantía, por esa razón volví a comprar otro, dado que me gusta el artículo, el cual uso en mi oficina. Deben mejorar la calidad.

The resolution is better on this unit than the really cheap frames, but is still in-expensive. Looks very nice and is a good no frills frame.

This is one Great LCD photo frame. The picture quality stands up to some of the top rated ones. Couldn't find a better one out there!
