This replaced a 19" Viewsonic from 2007 which I was very happy with but I wanted a larger one that could display two browser screens side by side that I could easily see from two feet away. This 24" Viewsonic does it perfectly. I run this on a Windows 8 computer and the picture is beautiful and flawless.
The monitor came well packaged, I took it out of the box, plugged in the VGA cable that was still attached to the computer from the old monitor, plugged in the power cord, adjusted the resolution to 1920x1080 and it was ready to use. No color, tint, contrast, or other adjustment was needed.
It came with a disk to install Viewsonic drivers and a Viewsonic monitor control app. It did not have the ones for Win 8 and I didn't bother to download the ones from their website because the drivers and control app that came with Win 8 worked fine for me. The computer is a Lenovo Intel I5 with the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel app that handles the monitor adjustments just fine.
The monitor has built in speakers of OK quality but I don't use sound with this machine and would have been just as happy if there were no speakers.
The monitor is fully adjustable for tilt, height, pivot, and swivel. This was very important to me and many of the competitors' comparably priced units don't offer this. This monitor is exactly 22 inches wide and 17.75 inches high from the bottom of the base at the lowest height setting.
I also like the fact that it came with a three year warranty from Viewsonic.
I've had this monitor for three days now and am very happy with it and am glad that I didn't have to do any messing around to set it up.
02/04/13. I have these additional comments since my initial review. I have tried the adjustment buttons in the lower right front of the monitor and they all work properly. There is an input selector option to allow a switch between input on the VGA, DVI, or Displayport ports.
One minor item that is missing on this unit is the two cord keepers that my other two Viewsonics have. These are the keepers that bundle the cords and let them run down the back of the upright part of the stand. No big deal, but it would have been nice to have them included.
