What is an IPS Panel?
IPS (in-plane switching) technology is the highest performance panel technology available in the LCD displays. The specifications and details of IPS panel technology are considered best for high accuracy in color, contrast and wide viewing angles. IPS panels offer excellent picture reproduction and suitable for photography, graphics design, movie production, CAD/CAM engineering, medical and security applications. Illustrations below represent how an image on your screen will look even at extreme viewing angles of up to 178°. With IPS panels, you will not have any color shifts or changes in the contrast ratio when you move the image across the screen or change your viewing angle.

Wide viewing angles

At 45° angle

At 178° angle

True life-like colors
Since IPS panels support real life colors, they are perfect for photographers, graphics and movie designers. For example, when you take a picture of your family on a field trip, the blue of the sky, the green of the grass will look exactly the same on your screen and on your prints, assuming your camera and your printer support true RGB colors as well.

From your camera...

To your screen...

To your wall.

Eco-mode for up to 40% energy savings

ViewSonic’s proprietary Eco-mode function comes standard with the VP2365wb. When you don’t need all of the powerful features VP2365wb has to offer, you have the option to reduce the monitor’s brightness, save energy, save the planet and prolong the lamp life. You can select one of the “Optimize” or “Conserve” options and save up to 40% energy. Especially under low ambient light conditions, adjusting the brightness will improve visibility by reducing eye fatigue. Reducing brightness will also prolong the monitor’s lamp life, improving your return on investment.

Efficiency and comfort
Ergonomics is defined as profession of designing tools and work environments to best accommodate human performance and behavior. The VP2365wb is one of the great examples of an ergonomically designed tool. Based on your height, chair and desk conditions, you can adjust it up and down for 5.3 inches, swivel it 360°, or tilt it 20° degrees, whatever makes you more comfortable.

Also, when designing a portrait mode image or a document (such as a flyer or a magazine page), you can rotate the monitor 90° and utilize your 23” screen size at its full extent. You can also adjust your graphics card settings so that all your graphics are rotated 90 as well.

Full HD Resolution
VP2365wb features a 23” widescreen with 1920x1080 resolution that is capable of displaying a native Full HD 1080p image. In today’s world, Full HD capable devices are getting more and more common which in return increases the demand for 1080p content. In order for graphic designers and movie producers to work more efficiently on 1080p content, a display that natively supports this resolution becomes essential.

ViewSonic VP2365wb’s 23” panel offers another new trend in the LCD panel market - 16:9 aspect ratio. This new aspect ratio not only natively supports Full HD 1080p content but also in a “non- distorted” way. For example, a 1920x1200 resolution monitor will also support Full HD 1080p but it will either stretch it to fit into a full screen or show blank side bars to avoid distortion. With a 16:9 aspect ratio panel, you will get the most out of your HD content since HD contents are natively designed in this format.

VESA mount and multi-monitor setup
Designing a professional grade monitor is not easy. We need to understand the needs of our professional users as well as their most common usage patterns. For those who plan to install VP2365wb on a monitor stand for multi monitor setups or wall mount it, we included a 100mm x 100mm VESA mount holes in the back. You can detach the base easily by unscrewing four screws and then mount the display on its new stand or wall mount.

Another critical element for multi monitor setups is the bezel design. We made sure that VP2365wb features a thin bezel so that when you tile two, three, four or more monitors together, you have minimum lost space between them.

Piece of mind with the best pixel performance guarantee and 3 year warranty
One of the aspects that make ViewSonic a market leader in displays is its commitment to quality. LCD panels are produced in factories and as everything else, they may have flaws too. One of the flaws of an LCD panel is a dead pixel, bright or a dark one. Some panels will have no dead pixels while some will have one or two or more. When LCD display manufacturers build their monitors, they will have the option to use different grade panels with different tolerance levels for number of dead pixels. ViewSonic is committed to use the highest grade panels and offer the best pixel performance policy in the market. We also back our displays with 3-year warranty for your peace of mind.

Diverse connectivity
The VP2365wb features a DVI-D digital and a VGA analog input.  You can connect two sources at the same time and then toggle between the two by selecting the input source through the On-Screen-Display (OSD).  You can also connect one of your computer's USB ports to the monitor's USB uplink input which then multiplies the USB ports to four.  This way, you can connect up to four USB devices to your monitor and save yourself from the hassle of reaching out to your computer's USB ports.

This is a great monitor -- well thought out, great ergonomics, excellent color reproduction, and of course, a spectacular field of view, thanks to the premium IPS screen. I can look at this screen from virtually any angle without color shifts or brightness changes.

Don't believe the reviews that complain about dimness problems...I don't know what kind of retina-searing technology people are looking for, but this monitor is actually a bit brighter than the LED-backlit screen on my MacBook, which is itself a fairly bright screen. I run them both side-by-side, and I couldn't be happier with the pairing. I've had no complaints about image quality, whatsoever.

Aside from the quality of the panel, this monitor has lots of nice little touches that I demand from a "pro" monitor: a 5-inch height adjust (ESSENTIAL for me, as I'm over six feet tall); the ability to pivot the screen 180 degrees; a wide, stable stand; and a minimalist design. This is not one of those cheap-looking, shiny plastic monstrosities that you'll find at Costco -- the bezel is thin and unobtrusive, and the buttons are tasteful and small. It's no Cinema Display, but it's as nice a design as you'll find without shelling out twice the cash. (Alas!)

My complaints are minor: the controls are a bit goofy to use, and more thought could have been put into the on-screen display. Also, I'd love a version of the display with an LED backlight. Other than that, I think it's a great buy. Highly recommended to anyone who appreciates the quality improvements given by an IPS display.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cost-Efficient Pre-Press Monitor October 1, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
If you make a living creating content for pre-press, this monitor will do just fine. With a little calibration (the set-up calibration was very close!) you'll get good accurate color. Works great with a Macintosh. The matte finish on the screen is a real plus! The adjustable height, rotation and swivel also make life easier. (I'm kind of amazed that other manufacturers omit these features) Apple, Eizo, NEC and Lacie might have a tiny edge on color accuracy - and I've worked on all of them - but for under $300, this Viewsonic makes good sense for a small business like mine. I have more than 35 years of pre-press experience with magazines, newspapers and just about any printed item you can think of, plus I've been using Photoshop and page layout software since their creation. This is the best value in a new pre-press monitor I've ever come across. If you need a fast, bright monitor for movies and gaming, get one of the cheaper TN panels from Samsung. If you're a design professional on a budget, look no further than the Viewsonic VP2365wb. Perfect for community newspapers, print shops, in-house design shops and small PR/ad agencies.

THREE WEEKS LATER -
Man do I love this monitor! I design more than 50 posters a year, mostly 11x17 and 12x18. Being able to see these designs in full or nearly-full size using the vertical pivot mode has been an incredible time-saver. I've set up my Adobe CS5 palettes for "vertical" mode - and changing my workspace just takes a few seconds. If you do lots of posters and page layout-this is your monitor - I can't think of a single good reason to spend more money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent mid-high-end Monitor May 18, 2010
By ToMoy
Amazon Verified Purchase
We've been buying the Apple Cinema Displays for their IPS LED technology, but some users have serious glare issues in their work environment and Apple sticks to the glossy surfaces. So after some searching online, this one came up among maybe two. I've had good luck with the high-end Samsungs which work well with Mac OSX's anti-aliasing. Text is dark, thick and smooth where some cheap displays give you some hard-to-read thin faint lettering.

Lights up full and fast, no warm-up delays. The only dings are not really its fault per-se. The widescreen resolution makes our users think it's missing a couple inches top to bottom, and its aesthetics are a little dull: high quality, but dull.

Fully recommend.
