The ViewSonic VPW450HD 42-inch plasma TV features color-rich NextVision technology for high contrast and brightness in its 16:9 screen. Its 1,000-candela (cd/m2) brightness and 1,000:1 contrast ratio ensure that your images--whether video or graphics--are brilliant, vivid, and lifelike. In addition, ALiS (Alternate Lighting of Surfaces) plasma technology delivers bright, saturated video images by illuminating more screen area at one time than traditional plasma displays without a loss of brightness. With the VPW450HD's 1024 x 1024 resolution, enjoy realism in HDTV, standard definition TV, DVD, and gaming.

Picture-in-picture and split-screen capabilities let you watch video images from two separate video sources at the same time. A display stand is included, or you can mount the VPW450HD on your wall or ceiling with the optional mounting base to save space. With its built-in TV tuner and stereo speakers, the VPW450HD is ready to go right out of the box. (An HDTV tuner, available separately, is required to watch HDTV broadcasts.) In addition, you can attach a subwoofer or play audio through your existing audio system.

For artifact-free movies, built-in 3:2 pulldown automatically detects film content from DVDs and reassembles the frame sequence to more accurately reproduce the original 24-frame-per-second material. The TV's other convenient features include last-channel recall, multilingual onscreen display, MTS stereo with SAP (secondary audio program, for bilingual programming), V-Chip-based parental control, a sleep timer, and closed-captioning display.

The VPW450HD accepts two types of high-quality component-video inputs, as well as S-Video, composite video, DVI (digital video interface), RGB and RF inputs, with RGB video output. Its audio inputs include several sets of left/right RCA inputs, and the outputs include left/right RCA jacks and a subwoofer output.
