5.0 out of 5 stars High quality widescreen 20 inch LCD
Replacing a 4 year old 19 inch sony trinitron, I was skeptical about an LCD being as crsip and as clear as my old Sony glass crt. It is better which really surprised me. This monitor, once I got the settings straight blows it away as far as clarity and crispness. Replacing a 4 year old 19 inch sony trinitron, I was skeptical about an LCD being as crsip and as clear as my old Sony glass crt. It is better which really surprised me. This monitor, once I got the settings straight blows it away as far as clarity and crispness. I always like to tweak the image settings on monitors from their factory settings as I always think they are too bright and contrasty in my opinion. This monitor comes with both a VGA and DVI cable and I connect it to the DVI input on my Nvidia 6200 card and adjusted the resolution down a notch to 1440x900 as things were too small at the default resolution of 1680. Make sure your video card can accept these resolutions and it helps if you have a DVI input on your card too as this will also give you a digital signal. The colors are nice and text is crisp and DVD's and media files play smooth and sharp. I love the widescreen aspect of this monitor best as this gives me so much more room. The only downsides to me with this monitor are that it needs a remote to adjust the settings and the buttons on the monitor panel are hard to use and set and tedious to adjust. Other than that I love it and will buy another Viewsonic again but please correct the settings situation and add a remote!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, January 15, 2007
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2035wm 20-inch Wide LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I have always used CRT monitors, but decided to finally upgrade to an LCD monitor. After doing alot of research on price vs quality, I found this one to be the best. There's no 'ghosting' at all, and the picture quality is phenomenal. The sound could be a little better, but for built in speakers its not too bad I guess.

Pros:
Quality
Finish
Sturdy build

Cons:
Speaker volume/quality

All in all, I would certainly recommend this product to those that already have speakers and who are looking for a great monitor for a decent price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good monitor, March 19, 2007

This review is from: ViewSonic VX2035wm 20-inch Wide LCD Monitor (Electronics)
This is my first LCD monitor. Previously, I used a highly rated 17" Iiyama monitor. After using this LCD monitor for some time I find that I don't miss my CRT based monitor at all. The images and video performance of this monitor are just great. Other then the fact that I have a widescreen and more real estate, I forget I am viewing another monitor. The picture is quite comparable to the CRT. I popped in my Superbit Spiderman DVD to check out the performance and it looked very good, at least I was pleased. I found the default resolution of 1680x1050 a bit too high for text viewing so I settled on 1280x1024. There are quite a number of supported resolutions.

I debated on whether on not to go to widescreen for my computer, and now I'm glad I did. Most programs take advantage of the widescreen. Excel charts span the entire width and many Web sites will also stretch to fill the entire width so you don't have to scroll so much to read the text. Outlook fills the entire screen as well letting you see more of those verbose e-mails. You can open a window to what would be full screen on a standard aspect ratio monitor, and then open other windows and cascade them side by side. Vertically splitting windows allows you to see more of each window. I don't think I'd go back to the 3X4 aspect ratio.

Cons: Couldn't make it work at native resolution (using VGA input). Clueless ViewSonic customer support. Badly designed control panel buttons. No easy access to audio volume control.

ViewSonic seems to have taken note of customers' comments regarding the sticker across the top of the screen; mine didn't come with any of those.

I really wanted to make this monitor work with my computer, but even after installing the latest drivers for both video card and monitor, it was impossible to bring the screen to its native resolution of 1680x1050 under WinXP Home SP2 using the VGA input. Other monitor brands worked just fine. The clueless customer hotline was of no help at all. Any other screen resolutions made text blurry.

Conclusion: Returned to sender...

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this monitor, April 15, 2007

This review is from: ViewSonic VX2035wm 20-inch Wide LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I've had a 17" Samsung SyncMaster for approx. 4-5 yrs. It bit the dust earlier in the week. This weekend I bought this ViewSonic monitor. I love it.

The picture quality is amazing. So crisp and clear. The colors are very rich and vibrant.

The monitor feels solid, not at all flimsy or fragile. Several mentioned the sticker across the top...yes, I had the sticker but had no trouble removing it. I began at the left, took my time and it peeled right off leaving zero residue behind. However, I do agree the manufacturer could leave it off.

If you need a new monitor or want to upgrade...you won't regret purchasing this monitor.

Excellent monitor! Really like the size and quality. One thing (and a peeve of mine) - the monitor came with a sticker attached all the way across the front (above the screen). A pain to remove! Manufacturers need to quit with that stuff - I don't want to dork up the front of my new monitor (or anything else I buy) trying to get something like that off!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2035wm 20-inch Wide LCD Monitor (Electronics)
The ViewSonic VX2035wm is high quality and excellent value. Only criticism is the miniscule buttons on the front that are more efficiently pressed with a round toothpick than a finger. What were the engineers thinking? There is plenty of room on the front to make them bigger.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Image Quality/Great Price, February 15, 2007
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2035wm 20-inch Wide LCD Monitor (Electronics)
This monitor has fantastic image quality! As I type I'm watching a video which looks clean and smooth. The base is stable and the monitorr has a quality feel to it. [...] As for negatives I agree with the other reviewers. Viewsonic should not have bothered with the speakers and you shouldn't plan on using them. The little built in speaker that is probably in your computer is nearly as good. I have a cheap pair of external speakers and I was hoping the Viewsonic speakers would replace them for my routine use (I have a wireless connection via airport express to my stereo for MP3 listening) but these speakers aren't usable.

Ultimately, you buy a monitor for the image quality. Judged by that criteria this monitor rocks!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works for me, May 16, 2007
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2035wm 20-inch Wide LCD Monitor (Electronics)
The monitor was relatively cheap and has worked really well in the short time that I have had it. It was easy to setup. It has 1680x1050, but is only 20" across. I feel it has a more crisp picture than a 22" which have the same number of pixels over a larger area. I really felt it was the best deal out there for the quality.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing, February 19, 2008
By

(VINE VOICE)
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2035wm 20-inch Wide LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I purchased this monitor to be my primary monitor and replace a Sony Trinitron monitor. The performance is quite disappointing from a number of perspectives. First, the color fidelity is not good at all. I calibrated the display several times, to no avail: color shift is very noticeable and white is just about impossible to achieve. Second, the viewing angle is very very narrow, even a slight shift off axis and there is profound color shift and luminance drop off. Third, the luminance is very uneven top to bottom. Fourth, there is an advertising sticker that covers the top edge of the surround, no luck at all getting the gummy backing off of the monitor. Fifth, it really needs to be adjustable vertically, but the stand only tilts, there is no horizontal adjustment.

This is such a disappointing product that I moved it to storage for several months, I'm using it now in a application where image color quality doesn't matter. The only upside to this unit is the size of the display. Given its price, I think it would be easy to find a better monitor elsewhere.
