Great monitor, a couple slight problems, May 20, 2009
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2260WM 22-Inch 1080p HDMI LCD Monitor (Personal Computers)
I just received this monitor yesterday and have been running it as a dual screen with Windows Vista/Windows 7. The monitor looks great, colors are sharp. I didn't really see any issue with the blacks that someone noted in another review, but since I edit photos quite a bit I noticed a significant difference from my laptop monitor (obviously). Though not for a professional photographer, for the casual enthusiast editing pictures this is a really good all around monitor.
The two issues I noticed have also been noticed by others, but I just wanted to confirm their views. 1) light bleed along the top and bottom of the monitor. It is really only noticeable with dark screens like dark movies or dark games (though honestly if you're engaged in a game I doubt you would really notice). The light bleed is there though, and I really noticed it while watching 24 last nite. 2) the blue power button. I saw complaints about this in other reviews and said to myself 'how bad can it be?'. Well, its pretty bright. Actually very bright. Even now typing this review the blue light is distracting. Of course its an easy fix to put a piece of electrical tape over it or something.
Overall, this is a great monitor, wonderful color and clarity for the price. If you're looking for a versatile monitor/screen for watching movies, computing, or playing games I would definitely recommend it. Where else will you find 1080p Full HD in a 21.5" screen at this price? Unless you are incredibly particular about your screens as a professional video/photo editor, or are a movie/gaming purist whose experience will be ruined by slight light bleed, this monitor is great.

Great Quality for the price, February 27, 2009
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2260WM 22-Inch 1080p HDMI LCD Monitor (Personal Computers)
This is really a great monitor, it has D-sub as well as HDCP supported HDMI and DVI. I use this monitor as a secondary display on my Mac Pro (using the DVI connection) and as an HD display for my Xbox 360 (Using the VGA/D-Sub connection), using both at its native resolution of 1920x1080 (also known as 1080P).
For those that don't know HDCP stands for "High Definition Content Protection" and its a lame standard that was added when HDMI came along so that people can't pirate High Def. video and whatnot from the wire (which is retarded because most HD content is ripped and pirated with the PS3 or Xbox HD-DVD player directly).
What this means for you though is that this monitor will work perfectly with High Definition video for example a BlueRay Disk played in a PS3 connected to the monitor through HDMI. Or a BlueRay Disk played on a Computer with an HDCP supported video card connected to the monitor via DVI. Aka: it gives this monitor a longer useful lifespan.
The monitor came with no dead pixels, it is bright, almost as bright as my $1500 30" LCD and has a great pixel density. Color wise it has a little trouble with light blue, tending more toward a brownish color than the actual blue it should be generating, but for the incredibly great price thats to be expected. Some reviewers were complaining about the bright blue power LED on the front. From my personal use of this monitor I do not find it at all distracting. I purchased this item for 200 from Tiger Direct through Amazon, The box was rather beat up on arrival but the device was in perfect condition.

Such a deal!, February 6, 2009
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2260WM 22-Inch 1080p HDMI LCD Monitor (Personal Computers)
My PC is getting too old to play most modern games so I decided to get a PS3. Since I didn't want to tie up my TV all the time, I needed something with both HDMI and DVI-D for the PC. This is one of the few monitors I've found that offers that, and at a price that's unbeatable.
This replaced a Dell Ultra Sharp 24" and, no, it's not quite as good as that, but the Dell has no HDMI and it's not HDCP compliant, so no Blu-Ray movies.
Yes, the blazing blue power light is more distracting than you might think, especially in a dark room, and there's no height adjustment, and it's quite difficult to calibrate (anyone have any suggestions, feel free to leave a comment!), but it's a great monitor for the price!
PS If you're going from a 24" (1920 x 1200) monitor to this, make sure you change all your game resolutions to 16 x 9, 1920 x 1080 BEFORE you switch!!! Otherwise all you'll get is a black screen and a "no signal" when you launch them...
