5.0 out of 5 stars ViewSonic VX2265wm
I was skeptical at first about purchasing this monitor because it wasn't available anywhere else. It came exactly as advertised, brand new, and no dead pixels. After using another ViewSonic LCD (VX922) for several years I wanted to see how much of a difference it would be to have the 120Hz. This monitor is definitely worth every penny. When I first used this item with the NVIDIA 3d glasses, I was shocked and amazed. However, once I became accustomed to playing games in 3d, I was able to see the subtle flaws of this technology. The screen refreshes at 120 hz... but not uniformly. In other words, not all parts of the screen refresh at the same time. The top and bottom ~15% of the screen do not refresh at the same time as the center (at least that's what the current theory is on NVIDIA forum). Users see severe ghosting at the top and bottom of the screen. There's about 4-5 pages of posts on the NVIDIA forum by angry users complaining of the same issue (check it out before buying). It occurs with both samsung and view sonic screens LCDS (DLP's dont seem to have this issue). According to one the the writers on the nvidia forum, nvidia released a statement saying that this is a limitation of the current LCD screens. For the most part NVIDIA has kept their mouth shut regarding this issue. It's 2nd class business ethics.

My screen had an additional defective. When in 120 hz, the top upper right corner revealed subtle horizontal white lines that were absent on the remainder of the screen. Funny thing, they would disappear on 60 hz. That was the final straw, I mailed it back yesterday.

I may buy the samsung monitor... but I know it will have the ghosts mentioned above. It's bearable in a few games... but not in most.

5.0 out of 5 stars ViewSonic VX2265wm, March 13, 2009
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2265wm FuHzion 22-Inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I play a lot of video games and when you make the jump from a basic LCD to this 120Hz LCD you are going to want to go through and play everything over again. It reminds me of what it was like using a high priced CRT with a extremely high refresh rate. The only downside now is that it burns my eyes to look at any other LCD that is below 120Hz (if you put the monitors side by side and move a window you will see the extreme difference). I have yet to test out the 3D capabilities so I cannot comment on that aspect (you have to purchase a separate unit with glasses).

I highly recommend this monitor if you play video games constantly, it really does make that much of a difference to see everything twice as much (60Hz to 120Hz).

Also, the stand wobbles a bit if you bump your desk, but it isn't that much of a problem if you have a sturdy desk. I would recommend checking the reviews on the VX2262 if you are worried about this aspect of it (same design and build).

4.0 out of 5 stars almost perfect!, April 14, 2010

This review is from: ViewSonic VX2265wm FuHzion 22-Inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I've been a FPS gamer for 12 years. Back in 2005 i bought my first LCD, which was a decent replacement for my huge wonky CRT. I sacrificed Hz for more desk space. But recently i've really come to miss the smoothness that the CRT can deliver. I went digging into some reviews on this viewsonic and the competing samsung model and decided to go with this one. I have had this monitor for a few months now and i DO have a few beefs with it, but they aren't huge for me.

First, is the lack of brightness control. In 120hz mode (which im always in) the picture isn't blinding at all, but it does cause some back light bleeding, noticeably more so on the bottom. The blacks also turn purple'ish toward the top of the screen. Its not horrible, but its there.

Second, is the clarity of the panel. I have my S-IPS panel (NEC 20wgmx2) in clone mode to compare the clarity, colors and motion. Right away i see a lack of sharpness as compared to the IPS panel, and the colors are extremely cool (more blue). This brings me to the last problem with this monitor.

NO ON SCREEN CONTROL! It may or may not be a deal breaker for you. For me it is not, but keep in mind that you will have to use software to calibrate your monitor! This was somewhat of a pain for me, but i had my other monitor to use as a color reference.

OK, so with all my "beefs" aside, i will say this: The 120hz AND the price outweighs the problems i listed 100%. Now i cant comment on 3D use of this monitor, because i do not intend on using that. I am extremely happy with my purchase, no dead pixels, no defects. Anyways, i hope that my scatterbrained review helped SOMEONE out there.

Just as a side note- there are some great 75hz monitors out there that are LED back lit, as well as some up LED 120hz monitors coming up from LG. So keep those in mind!

There are a lot of bad technical services around the world and after all those you have Viewsonic technical service.

The monitor arrived damaged. Completely dead. I sent it to the Viewsonic technical service. They kept it for a month WITHOUT any kind of revision. Motive: they didn't have a pc with a video DVI output, yes, on 21th century, they couldn't even test the monitor.

I purchased this monitor on March, more than 3 months ago, and I'm still waiting for Viewsonic to send a new one. More than 3 months. Please don't do the same mistake I made. Don't purchase this monitor.

2.0 out of 5 stars Amazon Rocks! Viewsonic, not so much., February 12, 2010
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2265wm FuHzion 22-Inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I received the Viewsonic VX2265wm as a Christmas present. It arrived on Dec. 1. I didn't use it until Dec. 25th. It had a serious smear problem when run at 120 Hz (for 3D) and it looked terrible. First I contacted Viewsonic on Dec. 29th and was told that I would have to ship it (at my expense) to their repair facility where it would take from 15 to 21 days from the day they receive it for them to get the repaired monitor back to me. (Assuming they actually fixed it.) They were unwilling to simply replace it as defective and DOA. I contacted Amazon... A WORLD of difference. Amazon issued a call tag to have the monitor picked up the very next day (at Amazon's expense) and simultaneously shipped a replacement monitor 2nd Day Air! They did not even wait for the first monitor to be picked up before shipping the replacement. The replacement monitor works just fine. There are three lessons here:
1) Don't have Christmas presents arrive too early as it may cause warranty problems since some manufacturers have very short warranty periods.
2) Viewsonic.....Not so much!
3) Amazon Rocks! Definitely do buy from Amazon.

I got this monitor to go with the nvidia 3D vision & GTX 470 card. It is AMAZING in most every game I've tried it on, mass effect 2 being the only one that was not great. Great value and would buy again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Monitor splits 4 screens at 120hz, July 21, 2010
By
Jeremy C Lawson (The Dalles, OR, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2265wm FuHzion 22-Inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I bought this over a year ago. I have been an avid fan of viewsonic monitors since all my older ones have worked very well. I bought this gaming monitor after I had purchased the Nvidia 3D Glasses. The screen splits into 4 sections when I change the refresh rate to 120. I contacted Nvidia and Viewsonic about the issue and they both agreed it was an issue for Viewsonic to resolve. After going through many tech support talks with Viewsonic, I finally convinced them that this product is real and that they make it (not to mention it was one of the few adds featured on their site at the time). Viewsonic agreed to pay for shipping to either fix it or replace it. After a couple of months without hearing anything about my 3D Vision Viewsonic monitor, I called them. They sent me a monitor back with the same 4 screens on one issue.
I will never buy from Viewsonic ever again. That was a lot of money for a monitor that doesn't even do what it is sold to do. What a waste of money. Conclusion: I still have the monitor and I just did a driver check for it and nothing has been fixed after a year and a half. Go with Samsung. Don't risk my issue. I still hope one day I will be able to enjoy the 3D experience at full screen. Wishful thinking I suppose.

Info for others:
Vista 64bit and I am using the Nvidia 260 card.

4.0 out of 5 stars WOW this monitor is awesome, May 15, 2010

I have to say, this monitor rocks. I have been looking for a 120hz monitor and there is only a few out there. If you have the money to spend then I guess the alienware monitor would be a better choice. 120hz rock, I also have the 3D vision, and it looks awesome as well, I can't believe how nice 3D looks, I feel as if I am really in the game. I am sure you wont find a better priced monitor for what this one gives you. Only thing I do not like is that it is not 1080p, but that is not that important. There are no dead pixels anywhere and I am not sure what ghosting is but I can say I do not see it, well I do not look that hard anyways, I just enjoy what is there. Hey no need to look for Fla's, I mean WHY????

I am very happy that I did not spend the extra $200 for the Acer, that I have heard, hums when reading text pages. this monitor does no such thing, Have I said playing games at 120hz rocks, even if you do not or will not get 3D vision, this is a great buy for a gamer!! the colors looks very good as well

Also I wish this monitor was not set to be so tall, stands a little to high, but also not really a big deal, I can't believe I made this my primary monitor, when I have a 1080p full HD 24" right next to it, I guess that's how much I like this new one. Left for Dead 2 3D awesome!!!!

A must buy for sure, great price.

you can really see 120hz for sure!!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ViewSonic VX2265wm FuHzion 22-Inch LCD Monitor (Electronics)
For some odd reason I couldn't get this thing to run @ 120hz. I spent all day trying to get it to work, I've tried every single thing.....still..nothing. The screens would split into 4, everytime I set any game to 120hz.
Also the picture is horrible, with no way of adjusting not one setting. All, & I mean ALL!!, my PC games looked dried out & blured.
I've noticed that 80% of PC monitors don't have extremly sharp picture, like a HDTV does. So I just went with the VIZIO 23" led 1080p HDTV, very good.

Nevertheless, if you're trying too get into 3D gaming, then you have no choice but too get this or tha samsung. I was hoping too get into 3D Gaming, but I couldn't even get the screen to act right. Lucky I didn't buy the glasses, & Geforce card at the same time as the screen!!!!.

I purchased this monitor because I loved how my existing viewsonic (about 6 years old now) looked, but I wanted a second, larger one. Also, the fast refresh option sounded like a nice thing to have.

It actually arrived ahead of the ship date, totally defect free (no dead or stuck pixels, which I was worried about when I purchased it) and it looks beautiful beside my older viewsonic. And while I used to think my old one looked great, I have to admit that this new one looks even better.

I haven't tried to use 3D yet and unfortunately my video card isn't powerful enough to make use of the fast refresh rate, but I figure I'll have this monitor for 10+ years, so I'm sure I'll have a video card that will support it, someday.
