I looked at alot of 21" monitors before I settled on this one and I have to say that I am extremely pleased with it. I looked at both trinitron and diamondtron monitors and didn't like what I saw at all. I use trinitron monitors at school on a regular basis and have never gotten used to the lines running across the screen 1/3 from the top and bottom. Aside from the "grille lines" I found the colors were too vivid and true whites seemed to have a slight reddish brown hue to them. So I knew I wanted the best shadow mask monitor I could find. This is it. While the picture isn't truly flat, the screen is; if you sit too close you can see the curve of the picture but as long as you sit 12" from the screen you will see a crisp, flat image, and the colors are wonderful. The picture gets a 5 star rating, the monitor overall gets 4 stars because of 2 things; 1 the cord that connects to the computer is permanently connected to the back of the monitor. This is bad because if the cord breaks you need a new monitor. 2. This thing is HUGE!!! The footprint isn't any bigger than that of my old 21" but the height is, if you have a computer cart like me with a shelf over the top of the monitor you will need 30" plus to fit it in. In short, great monitor but now I need a new desk!

Huge in size-but incredible performance.Easy to set up-clarity,brightness,color,high refresh rates & high resolutions-with right graphics cards untouchable yet-inexpensive 4 size &quality of display.None of problems apperture grill monitors have -no lines & uniformity of picture.Have 2 Viewsonic P815-4 monitors about 4+ years also 21" monitors-still work great dispite almost constant use 24/7 never had a problem+ they have topnotch support 4 CRT's -all fudge on flat panels&pixel problems.In Short 20" flat panel or trinitron Crt cost more {LCD over 2x}-&will not perform as well despite hype.This monitor is a bargain-blows away my older 21's at less than 1/3 the price.Amazed that no one has posted a review!! Bought 2-For less then price of 1 LCD. P.S. Also LOOK GREAT in BLACK!!

I'm quite picky when it comes to buying elections (especially computer components). I did a lot of research and it kept leading back to this monitor. Perfectly flat screen, .25mm dot pitch across the entire screen, fast refresh rates at high resolutions, not to mention it's a shadow mask monitor so none of those pesky lines at the top and bottom of the screen that apperture grille monitors have. I upgraded from a generic 17" monitor I had been using for about 5 years so purchasing this monitor made a huge difference in games (very immersive). After seeing and using the monitor, I would easily recommend it to anyone. It's Sony-level performance without the Sony price. ...!

When I first received my monitor, the black level saturation was extremely poor. I did this by comparing the monitor with another older monitor that I have. Called up tech support and after exchanging a few emails later, I got my RMA number. I shipped out my monitor as soon as I received my Fedex shipping label and a week later, I received a new monitor from Viewsonic. Sure enough, the new monitor has really good black level saturation and the colors are really good. Right now, I am really happy with my monitor and the tech support has been really excellent in my case.

Great picture, dont know how the tech. support is. i havnt needed it. I like it better than my Sony. Heavy, be sure your desk can handle it. I would buy this again.

OK so the $449 price attracted me and the fact i have been using 2 other viewsonics for a number of years for my dual 21" setup. Order time and delivery (yea free Amamzon shipping!) were really quick even considering the delivery company had the wrong street on their paperwork. The driver was however smarter than that and noticed the packing slip had the correct street. So i have used it for a couple of days and there are a couple of things that aren't great. The black levels are softer than the old G810 sitting next to it. More of a green cast. The black type on a web page or doc does have a "built" look to it. That didn't bother me that much, but really annoyed my graphic artist roommate. The thing that _really_ drives me batty is there is nearly an 1/8 inch curve to the top of the screen. No amount of fiddling with the adjustments will remove this. The other three sides adjusted out perfect. This is the same results on 3 different computers that have 3 different video card manufacturers. Probably will live with this permanent "grin" that it has but i would not recommend this model for purchase.

My only complaint regarding this monitor is that the when viewed closer than 3ft or so, the shadow mask is particularly noticeable around the edge screen giving the image a pixilated look. In the middle of the screen the image is exceptionally sharp and bright. I'm trying to decide now if this is something I can get used to or if I'll look to find a replacement for this monitor. Other than this issue I'm very happy with the monitor.

Man oh man what a monitor! The colors are fantastic, the black's are the deepest I have seen and the high refresh rate @ 1600x1200 makes my eyes feel like they are getting massaged. All settings out of the box have been exactly as I would have them. Sounds like other reviewers had damage done to the monitor upon shipping, psst return policy! At this price I will defiently be getting a second one.

Had this for about two years.Only problem i have is there is a little curve in the top of picture if looking down, but if you look straight in middle you cant see it. Did every ajustment to fix it i could not. PUT IN A MOVIE IT LOOKS GREAT.CRISP, CLEAR This one looks better than anything i viewed at a the local stores Im happy with it.

-Upsides- I like it, after tweaking my monitor, and playing around with the colors, convergence, etc, I can say this is the best monitor i have ever owned. I picked it up for only $21 (very nice!). I use my monitor with the kworld 1440 HDTV box. After I pulled the colors out, the screen is very sharp and rich in color and pitch. It looks like hdtv, even when only on sdtv. The colors look as good as a plasma screen.

-Downsides- Obviously, this monitor is huge. this causes all kinds of issues, which im sure you already know. Also, in this monitor, i can slighlty notice the refresh rate on 75hz. I have never seen another monitor where I could see 75hz. 60hz on this monitor is brutal to look at, and will feel horrible on the eyes.
