This review is from: Viewsonic VX2000 20.1" LCD Monitor (Electronics)
the vx2000 is clearer and brighter than my 21'' viewsonic CRT at work. my 1600x1200 linux desktop is easily visible, even in bright daylight. my laptop lcd pales by comparison, as do most CRTs.this monitor weighs less than all of the other 20'' lcd's, but is well balanced and does not dislodge easily. the base lifts the image about 6'' above the desk surface (think about that if you like to stack your monitor on top of your desktop computer case). to connect your vga, dvi, 1/8" mic, and 1/8" audio cables, the back cover of the vx2000 must be pried off. the back cover is pathetically cheap for such an otherwise high-end product, -- there's not even a diagram in the printed or electronic user's guide showing how to remove the delicate plastic pieces. be careful. the speakers and microphone work as advertised, but i'm frequently muting the monitor speakers (convenient dedicated button for this) and putting on a headset to get better sound. if you use x-windows to zoom resolutions, you'll want to stick to viewsonic's advertised resolutions for the vx2000. even at the supported dimensions, the monitor takes a lengthy pause to 'autoadjust' at each change of resolution (at least with the analog video card i am presently using). one more thing worth noting is that loud, high-pitched chirp from the vx2000 monitor's on-screen controls can be silenced via the setup menu -> touch tone option.

VX2000 vs VP201S,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Viewsonic VX2000 20.1" LCD Monitor (Electronics)
Hello again i have now swapped my VX2000 for a VP201S and the following can be said.VX2000 have a better image quality. If you dont play games get the VX2000 its cheaper and better image quality. Also if you only play slow paced games like strategy games this is probobly ok. Movies if youre going to watch movies i still suggest the VX2000 its really good with Movies. However if your an avid gamer who plays all type of games alot then i have to suggest the VP201s or b since its better suited for that task. Hope you find this info useful.

This monitor is awesome you will be pleased with the crisp picture and 170 degree viewable range. I can view this monitor no matter where I am sitting in the room with no loss visually from any direction. I had a 17" crt monitor before I bought this monitor. This monitor is better than my old 17". I also watch tv on the vx2000 monitor through my computer and it performs flawlessly. My monitor is currently plugged up via the analogue port not the DVI port. I have not noticed any loss in visual acquity. Images are sharp, crisp, and clear just amazing. Looks great in bright light too. What I mean is there is no fading of picture in bright light. I don't use the speakers because my computer is connected through my surround sound stearo system. My guess is the speakers perform somewhere in the range of speakers that would normally accompany a new computer now days. I love this new monitor. If you are in the market looking for a new monitor at a good price This is a good monitor to go with. The screen does not tilt, landscape to portrait, like the vp201m does, but everything else is just as awesome. You can not seperate the monitor from the stand. The dot pitch on this monitor is a crisp .255. If you are in the market for a new monitor check to be sure the monitor you are about to purchase has 170 degree viewalbe it does make a huge, huge differece in viewable injoyment. The 600:1 vs. 700:1 contrast is not enough to notice or distiguish for your average viewer so don't be too overly concerned with the contrast ratio. 600:1 is excellent! This is simply a great monitor, software loads easily and was flawless. I purchased my Monitor through Mwave.com. I live at an FPO address I recieved my monitor through USPS in 5 days flat. So lots of kudos to those guys for doing such a great job in shipping. My total outlay including shipping was 1170.00 and change.

We have 2 VX-2000 monitors that we use to show multimedia at trade shows. The monitors are one of the best LCD units on the market, with rich vibrant colors and sharp image quality. One great quality is that they handle various resolutions (other than the native 1600x1200)such as 1024x768, without getting fuzzy like most lcds do. They have handled the road trips very well (packed in a custom foam insulated container, and have wall mounts that come in handy for display use. The one negative that everyone needs to know is that the internal speakers are horrible and worthless- they put out such poor volume with no bass you can barely hear them, so if you need good sound quality, either use external speakers (we use a set of bose external speakers) or test some other monitors for sound. I doubt you will find any other LCD in this price with a better image.

Great Monitor but games beware this is not the monitor for you.Hello Picture Quality = Awesome best i have ever seen. Games = NO.. do not buy this monitor if you play 1st person games where you use mouselook alot because you will have noticable ghosting effetcs. When buying a large TFT 20 and bigger for gaming make sure it has the lowest response ms as possible and read reviews on the internet to see if the claimed response rate of the screen is Justified. Im sending this monitor back for a Viewsonic VP201b or VP201s. Hope you find this info useful.

Best for Photo Editing,

The Colors are much brighter and clearer than on old non-MVA LCDs. Also the contrast makes more shades visible in the dark range. The viewing angle does not limit one's working position and also allows several people to see the same qualtiy picture. I have no dead pixels. I use a 3Dlabs Wildcat VP in UXGA mode on the DVI input with perfect synchronisation. In reviews of other UXGA LCDs and other Graphics Cards I found may that don't do the UXGA mode well. But this combination of Viewsonic VX2000 and 3Dlabs WildCat VP is just perfect.

BEST LCD Monitor on the planet today !!!,

This review is from: Viewsonic VX2000 20.1" LCD Monitor (Electronics)
Since I got this monitor home and hooked it up to my GeForce4 with DVI input and set the "reccommended" display setting to 1600X1200. I was absolutely blown away by the graphics quality of this monitor. I have played games, DVD movies and online videos. All, are superb. Are you a game nut? This is the LCD monitor for you. I just played my purchased copy of "Call of Duty". AMAZING game but most of all, AMAZING monitor. The colors were rich, clear and precise. No fading or distortion af any kind. I bought this monitor on eBay for a much better price. But, it's well worth forking over the list price that you see for sale online. What a monitor!!! I've been looking at LCD's for quite some time now. I finally found one that blew me away. Go buy one...it's worth it!!!

VX2000 is a very good monitor.,

This review is from: Viewsonic VX2000 20.1" LCD Monitor (Electronics)
When I bought the VX2000, I thought I was getting a 1600x1200 display device with 70Hz frame rate capability. What I actually got was a slip inside saying that it was actually 60Hz only. However, unlike conventional monitors, this is not a big deal, as LCD devices don't flicker on stationary images. For gamers, I'm not sure it would work so well. Otherwise, it is a very good monitor with good contrast. Also the instructions aren't very clear (but they are unclear in lots of languages) as you need to rip off the two back covers to get at the sockets.

This review is from: Viewsonic VX2000 20.1" LCD Monitor (Electronics)
This monitor is very spacious and looks beautiful. I enjoy using it, but there are a few objections i have, including the following:~It has a 20ms response, so there is ghosting when i play fast paced games. ~It has a very squarish look, not great for multitasking, and you can almost fit two pages side by side, something that would have been a lot more helpful when i do my homework and projects. ~DVI connection... works great.. only after my windows boots, and the booting is over (quite fast for my rig =P) I miss the Windows XP boot screens, which i have customized myself with skins. On a more POSITIVE note!! Lovely colors Very even colors +DVI imput greatly increases the sharpness, a must have when working wit UXGA resolution (1200x1600) +doesn't fuzz up when you go to lower resolutions like XGA. Great monitor overall, I enjoy using it

This is a beautiful display, but I wanted something that has built-in speakers. My last display, a Planar flat panel, had about what you would expect from tiny built-in speakers and they served their purpose. I guess I didn't realize what I had -- because the speakers built-in to the Viewsonic display are so poor that it sounds like a $5 children's toy. HUGE disappointment, considering the size of the display and enclosure. In retrospect, I would not have purchased this display had I heard the speakers in advance.
