Product Description

Created by Capcom USA, Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble. utilizes the presentation and settings from the first two action games and combines both with a new play style inspired by battle-centric fighting games, such as Super Smash Bros. Melee. New and familiar characters return -- including Joe, Silvia, Captain Blue Junior, Sprocket, and, exclusive to the PSP, Devil May Cry's Dante -- to compete in versus-mode fighting. You can also engage in Trial Mode for a number of quick mini-games. Along with a single-player story mode, Red Hot Rumble offers wireless action for up to four players. The title also supports game sharing so other PSP owners can check out particular stages and characters from one game disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best handheld game ever September 20, 2006
A Kid's Review
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This and Tekken: Dark Resurrection are the best handheld games ever made!!! There are 21 characters and my faves are Coordinator Sprocket, Sexy Silvia, Viewtiful Joe and Charles the Third. Everyone got unique moves and weapons. Viewtiful Joe got flame-based attacks, Blue Jr got his dual yo-yos, Sexy Silvia got her guns, Sprocket got her Bianky henchmen, Alastor got his sword etc. The graphics are also really good and flashy. It might be totally frantic but it's still easy to grasp and fun to play. The voices are also brilliant. Joe sounds just like a careless teen and so on. It's really good and I loved it! It's really addicdove and I played it for 4 hours straight when I first got it!!! Get it now! You and your PSP deserve it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Henshin a no no, baby... August 29, 2012
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
Viewtiful Joe is a side scrolling beat-em-up that debuted on the Gamecube. IT was alter ported to the PS2, adding Dante from Devil May Cry as a playable character. It was a very stylish game that incorporated the fact that the characters were literally inside a movie into the gameplay (slow motion and mach speed powers, etc). It also had a sequel, Viewtiful Joe 2, and a handheld sequel , Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble for the DS. It even had an anime series! So, you have a popular game with interesting mechanics, and lots of unique characters. Sounds like the recipe for a great Powerstone or Smash Bros. style fighter, doesn't it? That's what bothers me so much about Red Hot Rumble - I played the main games, and I know how amazing this game could have been.

I do have to say, this game keeps the series signature visual flare. The screen may be downsized, but there's plenty of vibrant colors and that comic book style is just as prevalent no matter how big the screen is. Too bad the game doesn't play as god as it looks.

Looking at some screen shots, you would see 2-4 characters and colored health gauges. From that analysis, you would probably conclude that Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble is a party fighter akin to Powerstone or Smash Bros. The reality is that each stage has multiple "objectives". these can range from kill the most enemies and deal the most damage to the boss to collect more diamonds than the other players. I think they were trying to set themselves apart with this feature, but in the end it just brings the game down. You'd think they would at least just throw in 1 mode where you can have straight up fights, but they don't. The most you can do is pick a stage in which one of the objectives is "Be the last man standing".

3.0 out of 5 stars lack of solid gameplay hurts Joe! March 17, 2009

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
This game has everything you love about VJ previous games, excellent graphics, over the top voice acting and animation, lots of humor BUT... gameplay is so chaotic that its very hard to enjoy playing it, its like the designers tried to put all kind of stuff in a "smash bros." kind of game. I've been playing the game for 3 weeks now, but I am unable to enjoy it more than 10 minutes! action gets totally out of control very easily and you cannot even see where you are in the screen of the psp! the game becomes a complete mess and the gameplay is not fun anymore.
