GORGEOUS VIOLIN FROM THE MASTER, April 25, 2008

Nathan Milstein's favorite encores. What more needs to be said. A man who ranked with Heifitz and Stern is a rare performer indeed, but he was undoubtedly one of the greatest violinists of the age. His selection of "vignettes" is entirely personal, but I bought it for the "Meditation from Thais." I loved this piece, but I found myself listening to the whole album over and over just to hear Maestro Milstein play. He was one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century, and I still cannot decide whether I prefer his or Isaac Stern's performance of the Brahms Violin Concerto.
If you like violin music, and catchy music from the masters, what more do you want. For pure enjoyment, get this album.
