5.0 out of 5 stars fast and versatile
This is the most useful item i have in my bag of electronic gadgets. I use it for my Pocket PC for extra memory. I downloaded numerous ebooks in it (currently i have 20) and there's still a lot of room for more. I use it also for my digital camera and it's fast and have lots of storage even for the highest quality setting. it's also used in my mp3 player (which i...

3.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
The one problem I have had with this 64M card is that it is slow. My Nikon Coolpix990 was supplied with a 16M Lexar card that has no problem keeping up, but is too small. I haven't timed the difference exactly, but the Viking takes about twice as long to record a picture (making it tough to take many pictures in a row), and locks up the camera so that I can't use the...

Well, I had no idea how much room a 1 MP picture would take up on a CF card. I know it is a combination of compression and format, but I never really did the math.

GREAT PRICE: I bought this card, number one, because the price was great. Now the price is even greater when you get it for about 2MB for $1.

NUMBER OF PICTURES THAT CAN BE STORED:
155 in a DC240 with 1MP.
55 in a DX3900 with 3.1 MP.
I never knew the MP versus MB formula, this practical application helped me out. I understand however, much depends on your compression and format. This was all .jpg files and on Kodak cameras.

SEEMS COMPATIBLE FOR PDA AND PC:
I know one of the concerns on these cards is compatibility. Since I have had it, I have put it in an @migo Pocket PC, on the PCMCIA card on an IBM laptop and a Kodak DX3600 and a HP315. It worked great.

Nice card and a nice size, I'm set for awhile now.

The one problem I have had with this 64M card is that it is slow. My Nikon Coolpix990 was supplied with a 16M Lexar card that has no problem keeping up, but is too small. I haven't timed the difference exactly, but the Viking takes about twice as long to record a picture (making it tough to take many pictures in a row), and locks up the camera so that I can't use the "pause" or "instant delete" features.

In the end though, the price is right, and I certainly wouldn't be willing to pay double the price for a faster name-brand card unless I were a professional photographer.

5.0 out of 5 stars 64 MB Viking Flash card, May 11, 2001

Indispensible accessory for my Cannon 100S Elph Camera. Now I can leave it in the automatic mode, concentrate on the subject I want to frame. It does about 90 photos in the fine mode. I don't know about price but everyone seems to be saying that its the cheapest cost, high quality flash card on the market. The 64 MB size was right for me. The selection of size is a personal matter based on camera use and how often the photos are downloaded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, June 11, 2001

This card works just as well as my 16MB ScanDisk card. I looked at the Viking 128MB card, but I am glad I purchased the 64MB. I can get 40 "Fine" resolution pics from my Nikon 880 camera on the 64MB. Any more than 40 would mean a really long session of identifying files.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value and good performance, February 13, 2002

I've used Viking components in the past and never had any negative experiences with their products. When I got a digital camera, I shopped the local computer and mall stores for Compact Flash memory cards before turning to Amazon.com. I was pleasantly surprised to find an affordable Compact Flash card in the capacity I was looking for made by Viking. The card works great with my Kodak digital camera and Sandisk CF reader. A top notch product at an affordable price.

Received the 64MB card yesterday along with a Cannon Powershot A20 digital camera that I also ordered. In the high resolution mode (1600 X 1200) with fine compression, I am able to store 100 photos. Thus far the card is working fine and equally as well as the Canon card that came with the camera. The price was certainly better than other brands and retail sources (Best Buy, Circuit City).

I have purchased several different brands of Compact Flash cards and they all work equally well. Follow another of the reviewer's advice and focus on price and brand. Viking products are great and they stand behind their stuff. I use mine for both my mp3 player and digital camera. Very versatile.

Viking and SanDisk always get top reviews, but I work in the computer industry and have been getting Viking memory for almost ten years and I have that experience to know that Viking is HIGHLY reliable. Don't let the price fool you, this is quality stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product, June 13, 2001

Bought two 64MB cards about a month ago and have taken hundreds of pictures since, so far so good, was hesitant to purchase this brand because I never heard of them, but after reading some other review from epinions.com and photographyreview.com, I thought I would take a chance. Also bought the CF card adapter which is incredible, lighnting fast downloads of all pictures, way faster then the USB plug into the camera itself. Could not beat the price, 30 bucks less than Sandisk and so far cannot see any difference other than graphics on the card itself. Worth the purchase and I will buy future cards from Viking if they continue to stay cheap.
