Better than some history books,

The historical campaign supplements from Avalanche Press were some of the best published for the d20 system, and Viking Age stands out as one of the most thorough and detailed of the lot. The historical and mythological information is presented in an informative yet entertaining writing style, and I was very impressed that the writers pointed out where the historical records are unclear or contain differing accounts that had to be reconciled for game purposes. I will use this as a supplement to my studies of Scandinavian myth as well as a supplement to my game.
