Product Description

The 12 cup Viking Food Processor comes equipped with a professional-grade 625-watt induction motor. Despite its powerful, 625-watt motor, this food processor is surprisingly silent as it chops and slices ingredients from garlic to shallots. The professional performance is complemented by an exclusive Viking design and die cast metal base. The 12 cup work bowl, has larger liquid capacity to process soups and sauces. Also included is a smaller, 3-cup work bowl and blade which is great for chopping nuts or mincing herbs. In front, Viking's large control knob includes an On/Off and Pulse function. On the back, another Viking exclusive: rear wheels to help maneuver across countertops. The discs come with a caddy for storing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great slicer!, April 17, 2008

I bought this because it had good reviews and because the kitchen aid and cusinart ones didn't. However, it didn't do what I expected a $300 machine to do. I didn't realise that the one touch button meant it was just on or off (my mistake), it won't grind hard spices not just because it destroys the plastic but it just can't do it. In fact it can't pulverise anything. I tried to make garlic paste but it wouldn't do it. It does slice really well, really quick, and really thin although there is quite a bit of waste.
If you use the small bowl it sprays a little bit into the big bowl which means you have to wash the whole thing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just because it weighs a ton doesn't mean it's sturdy!, August 16, 2010
This review is from: Viking 12 Cup Food Processor, Stainless Gray (Kitchen)
I got this food processor five years ago because I liked the fact that the base is metal. I figured it was so frigging expensive and so frigging solid-looking that I would never have to buy another food processor... Well, I probably never WILL have to buy another food processor...but in five years, I've had to replace the WORK BOWL three times (at $60 a pop). It is such a poorly designed piece of crap to attach to such a sturdy, reliable base...like a bullet-, water-, fire-, and shock-proof safe with a cheap plastic padlock. The shiny handle on the work bowl is metal, which is fine, but it is extremely heavy, while the bowl is shockingly flimsy plastic; the laws of physics practically guarantee that locking the big heavy handle into the base will put tremendous stress on the bowl, and eventually, the bowl will crack. Most recently, I had to replace the bowl because, instead of a cracked bowl, the handle broke off, and I was shocked and appalled to see that while the handle is metal and weighs more than a pound, the hardware that forms the locking mechanism is mostly PLASTIC! I'm stuck with this machine because, even though I could buy another food processor with the money I'd save on replacement bowls, I feel like I should keep it as long as the motor still works, but don't make the same mistake! Get a Cuisinart or a KitchenAid!

Needed a food processor and wanted a good one. This fit the bill nicely. I understand the Made in China part sucks but it looks and feels like a good machine. Only time will tell.
