I bought this modem to use with my Compaq IPAQ 3835 running Microsoft Pocket PC 2002. I wanted to dial in to my employer's Remote Access Service (RAS) number and sync up my IPAQ to my Outlook at work.

It works very well for that. I did not have to install any drivers or anything; just plugged it into my IPAQ's PC Card Expansion Sleeve and it worked great.

The price is lower than most (all?) Compact Flash modems made explicitly for the IPAQ and other PDAs.

But the "dongle" - the cord that attaches to the thin modem and plugs into the phone jack - is flimsy. I guess it's the best Viking could do, given the thin form factor of a Type I (single slot) PC Card modem.

I have had an excellent experience with Viking RFM56KPA 56K PC Card Modem for Windows, NT, DOS, or Macintosh. Before I felt as if I was out of the loop and unable to have information at my fingertips. But ever since I own the Viking RFM56KPA 56K PC Card Modem those days belong to a past century! I couldn't possibly be more satisfied with this product,it was easy to install, easy to use, and easy to love!
