This review is from: Viking VSC1012 11 Piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set (Kitchen)
This Viking 11 pieces set is really nice looking. Curves are smooth and finish is excellent. The heat conductivity is great! Maybe too much! Pan get so hot that it gets time to figure out the heat levell and oil or butter quantity to use so food do not get stuck at the bottom of a frying pan. I have not fully figured this out yet after few weeks. Even when food stuck to the pan it cleans rather easily.
Pros: - Beautiful - Heat distribution - Clean easily Cons: - Lid handle get as hot as the content!!! So, you can burn your fingers. You have to develop the reflex to always use a cloth. Never had that concern with my previous set. Anoying! - Pan have a straing edge. That becomes an little issue when transfering a liquid since it will partially run along the edge of the pan off target. Not such of a big deal but deceiving in that price range. - The pasta insert is not fully round but slightly oval (manufacturing issue). So it does not sit perfectly flat in the stock pot. I returned the fist set; the second came with the same issue. No such of a big deal but deceiving for the money invested. - scratches occur at the bottom of the pan when using a SS whisk to mix a sauce. I wonder if that problem is going to affect the property of the pan. - Lids are obviously not glass! I knew when I bought. But that change cooking habits from glass lids where you see inside the pan at all time. You have to open the lid more often to see the progression of your cooking or time it not to over cook. Over all I like to cook with the pan except the frying pans for now where food stick to the pan too easily. The problems listed above are big deceptions when you spend $1000 on a cookware set where you expect ease of use along with great heat distribution. Knowing all that I would probably spend my money on a $300 which would have had better usability and less heat conductivity.
