5.0 out of 5 stars Cool stuff.
I build bikes piece by piece a lot, but a friend of mine wanted a particular color scheme for a low dollar amount. This was my obvious choice. It's a low end bike, but not as low as one would think. Vilano bikes can take a beating. The only thing I can foresee replacing are the bearing cartridge in the cranks because most low enders don't exactly use the most high quality...

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent bike that arrived in used condition
I ordered this bike because I am rather small and have always wanted to try a road bike, but never found a 50cm frame in person. The price was right for me to want to give it a shot. This Vilano Edge bicycle arrived in a timely manner. It was safely packed and already mostly assembled, though I fine-tuned everything already assembled before riding. The assembly...

Vilano bikes can take a beating. The only thing I can foresee replacing are the bearing cartridge in the cranks because most low enders don't exactly use the most high quality guts. As far as the frame goes... it's not heavy at all. All in all I hope that people buy Vilano, although I feel a smaller logo on the bike would make it a bit more mysterious.

5.0 out of 5 stars what I expected, January 31, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Vilano Fixed Gear Fixie Single Speed Bicycle (Misc.)
First off, the bike came earlier than expected but the packaging wasn't proper to completely protect the bike itself. Mine had a couple scratches on the frame, crank, and inner rim.

The setup was easy enough since the rear wheel came attached (in which it was set up for the free wheel, I had to flip the wheel for the fixed gear)

As for the bike, it rides great and has a good gear ratio for riding in the winter and will be a great workout for my road bike.

I feels like it is worth more and I am willing to put more money into it.

4.0 out of 5 stars good road bike for the price, October 11, 2011
This review is from: Vilano Fixed Gear Fixie Single Speed Bicycle (Misc.)
I bought this bike and had to assemble it myself. Be aware that this bike has a certain kind of tire so in order to inflate it you need the adaptor. The tires are presta valves and you need a presta valve adaptor to pump it up. The actual valve runs you about $2 at a local bike store. The seller DID NOT provide any kind of manual or specifications to hook it up. WHICH SUCKS. But in the end, it is ultimately up to you to figure it out yourself. The seller gives you a URL to look up how to set up the bike itself. I highly suggest you buy a bike tool to help set it up or have a couple of Alan wrenches handy to set it up. It does not say on here but the PSI for the tires range from 90-100 based on your weight and this tire pressure does not show on the tires or in any sort of manual at all. Overall, the bike itself is pretty awesome. Very good for its price because most road bikes run you about $500 and up. I highly suggest buying this bike if you want a good road bike, but make sure you upkeep it every few weeks or so because the tires always need attention and tightening up things are necessary too. It's just like a car. Hope this helps.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent bike that arrived in used condition, February 2, 2012

I ordered this bike because I am rather small and have always wanted to try a road bike, but never found a 50cm frame in person. The price was right for me to want to give it a shot. This Vilano Edge bicycle arrived in a timely manner. It was safely packed and already mostly assembled, though I fine-tuned everything already assembled before riding. The assembly "instructions" are just a series of youtube and other video links compiled on a website, which is fine for me. I can see someone who doesn't know what they're doing being a little overwhelmed by that. All parts were present, everything assembled fine, but upon giving my bike the once over I noticed a four inch by 2 inch scratch on the left side of the bike over the N and the O of VILANO. Also, on the rear brake, there is duct tape covering part of the brake equipment. I am not sure why. I'm a bit apprehensive to take it off. All I am saying is, it's pretty obvious I got a used frame. I won't send it back because I already put it together, and the scratches on it are evidence of locking up the bike against a pole, which I am going to be doing anyway. I do wish the seller would refund me a little bit of money, but I'm not counting on that. The wheels are in great shape, unused. All of the parts fit and will hold up decently enough until I think I need to switch them out. I've gotten multiple compliments on the bike, it rides fast, and I am so happy to have a frame small enough for me, after all of these years of searching and being too afraid to order off the internet.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap ... you get what you pay for!, November 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
You get what you pay for. It's very cheap ... It works but I can't see running it for years on end without problems. If I were to do it over again I'd drop the dime on a Surly Steamrolller and be done with it.

I've had to replace the bent handle bars. The cheaper than cheap brake lever and super junk brake pads ... I had to true the front wheel (before it even hit the road!), and it looks like the rear hub is junk as well. So all I'm saying is for the purchase price and the price to make a decent roller, buy a Surly and save the trouble. It s cool looking but cool looking doesn't get you down the road.

2.0 out of 5 stars 250$ for a 70lb bike, October 26, 2011
This review is from: Vilano Fixed Gear Fixie Single Speed Bicycle (Misc.)
There are road bikes that literally weigh less than half this weight for the same price and less. Just get a decent road bike and convert it. It'd still be cheaper.
