An electronic excursion,
By William Merrill "eclecticist" (San Antonio, TX United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Villa Galaxia (Audio CD)
Much of the electronic music these days seems to be in the "ambient" style, which is something I do enjoy (especially by the Ambient Master, Eno). However, the synthesizer themes on Saul Stokes' 2008 album Villa Galaxia represent individual melodies with rhythm lines. Some of them such as "Blaze" could be played as lounge music in an interstellar night club. Others, like "Night Painting," are spacey enough for observatory or planetarium use, but they would only work with a really funky planetarium show! This music follows in the footsteps of the great ones, J-M Jarre and Vangelis, which is nothing to be ashamed of!
