The Naxos series of Villa-Lobos' solo piano works by Sonia Rubinsky is just superb - I now have two discs (including this one), and another one in the mail. The 3* rating is ridiculous and not even pertinent to the music and/or the recording & performance - please refer to my comment in that review (with reference to other outstanding comments) - check out the Naxos web site for excellent summary reviews on these discs. I own a lot of V-L orchestral & chamber works - just getting into his solo piano output - these performances are recently recorded, well done, and by a 'native' - the Naxos bargain price is another bonus; please, if interested, do a little more research before depending on one poorly misdirected review; hopefully, my rating will upgrade the overall average for others to at least 'explore' this composer & pianist!

Naxos has always been known for its reasonable prices, but apparently no longer. This particular CD is a really nice offering, but the price has increased by $3.00! since last week. I suppose Naxos couldn't hold the line forever, but a 40% increase is just too much. From here on out, I'll buy 'em used.
