You can set sail to great waffles with this "Boat" maker,

POSITIVES:- heats & cooks very quickly - has a indicator light & tone when the iron is hot and when the waffles are cooked - variable darkness setting - stores upright to save space - cleans up easily - great design for holding toppings like fruit NEGATIVES: - The sides of the "boat" are mich thinner than the bottom so to get the bottom crispy the sides will burn - just make sure not to over-fill the iron or you'll get a soft bottom on the boat shaped waffle Overall, a great product.

The 'boat' shape makes the waffles perfect for filling. They cook fast. The timer helps a lot so you aren't guessing if the waffles are done. This makes for a good date night. Who doesn't like breakfast for dinner?

If you want a waffle maker to "load" extra fruit and whatever onto it, then this is your best choice. However, if you're like us and just want a regular waffle (with just syrup on it) then this one is not the best choice. The reason is because it makes waffles that aren't very thick. When you pour the batter (less than a 1/2 cup in each boat) into the 2 areas of the waffle maker it's best to pour it onto the center area of each "boat", and then let it run down into the sides of the "boats", because those thinner sides always get a lot more crisp and overdone than the center area.We use the Krusteaz brand of waffle mix (the kind that requires you to add eggs and milk, rather than the one that requires that you just add water). For the 2 of us we usually divide the recipe in half. So that is 1 (slightly packed) cup of mix, 1 egg, 1/8 cup of vegetable oil, and instead of a 1/2 cup of milk, I usually add 3/4 cup. That makes the batter turn out thinner, so that it easily runs down into the sides of the boats in the waffle maker. If you wait just a few seconds (after putting the batter onto the iron) before closing the lid (so that the bottom has a chance to setup slightly), then you won't have to worry about the batter running out the sides. The batter will instantly begin to rise, so don't be alarmed if it appears that you have put too much into the "boats". The reason I'm not giving this waffle-maker five stars is because of the thin sides that are created--which tend to get too over-done in the baking process. With the Krusteaz waffle-mix the waffles turn out golden brown and very light--and that's with the temperature set to just "2". Before plugging in the unit each time we spray a bit of cooking spray on a brush and lightly brush all areas of the waffle-maker. It heats up rapidily when first plugged in and the waffles bake very quickly after the batter is poured into the boats, but the thin texture of the waffles means that they cool off very rapidly, so we tend to rush to eat them while still hot. I was very pleased with the over all heavy construction of this unit, but just not happy with the thickness of the waffles. So I just placed an order for the same brand--but the round-shaped one. We will save this "boat" waffle maker for when we have fresh fruit from our backyard strawberry-patch and fresh peaches, blackberries, blueberries and rasberries from the area growers. One other thing I liked about this unit is the ease with which we are able to remove the "boats" from iron--even though the sides are pretty deep.

My wife is looking for a waffle maker for a long time. We were searching around and asking around. Finally, we decided to get the VillaWare UNO Boat Waffler. We have owned it for a week and are very happy with it. It's very easy to operate. It's real "non-stick". We have used it for four times (in a week) and it's absolutely clean. Although there are much cheaper waffle maker in the market, I highly recommand this.

I bought this waffle maker a little over a month ago and I can't get enough of it. We use it at least 2-3 times a week. We love these waffles for breakfast or dessert. I was concerned when I purchased this that it could only be used for dessert waffles because of the shape, but it makes great breakfast waffles as well. Another great thing about this is that you can put leftovers in the fridge and then use the waffle maker to reheat them the next day, that way they will still be crisp. They are much less messy than regular waffles because they hold everything in - syrup, icecream, even chicken salad (recipes and suggestions comes with waffle maker). The waffle maker is also very easy to clean. I tried making one of the recipes in the book that came with the waffle maker, but have since just used Krusteaz mix because it is easier. I took the waffle maker into work last week (I'm a teacher) for a special treat for the kids. All the kids loved it and I also had quite a few adults who "conveniently" stopped by my room. ALL of the adults raved about how great the waffles were and what a neat invention the waffle boat maker is. Quite a few asked where they could buy it. After alot of searching, I am glad that I decided on this waffle maker. The price and the quality make it a great choice for anyone looking for a breakfast/dessert waffle maker.

Out of the box and working wonders. I originally experienced the boat shaped waffles at The Boars Head Inn in Charlottesburg Virginia. The stay was great(I would recommend the Inn to everyone)and the waffles filled with fresh strawberries and sweetened cream were to die for. The waffles from the Villaware exceeded my expectations. I can't wait for fresh fruit season again but in the mean time the boats will hold poached eggs nicely as well as ice cream and toppings. I recently tried a pound cake recipe for waffles out of the manual it too is fabulous. Love this product.

I bought this for 20$ from Stonewall Kitchen. I love it. I didn't exactly know what a waffle boat was but took a chance. My kids love it. I make them ahead, freeze them, pop them in the toaster over to crisp them back up. Fill w/ fruit or chocolate and some whipped cream. Delish!

This is a good waffle maker. Sturdy, easy to clean, and with a little beep to alert you when the waffles are finished cooking. I would have like to see a 4 waffle model, but the two waffle model can make them fast enough. Clean up is easy, and I have to tell you one surprise: I like the boat shapes. I pile on fruit and honey, as well as chicken and gravy, and the shape is an added plus.

It is easy to use, easy to clean and store. The waffle boats come out perfect. I use bisquick mix and it works great. Enjoy.
