You can set sail to great waffles with this "Boat" maker,

POSITIVES:
- heats & cooks very quickly - has a indicator light & tone when the iron is hot and when the waffles are cooked - variable darkness setting - stores upright to save space - cleans up easily - great design for holding toppings like fruit NEGATIVES: - The sides of the "boat" are mich thinner than the bottom so to get the bottom crispy the sides will burn - just make sure not to over-fill the iron or you'll get a soft bottom on the boat shaped waffle Overall, a great product.

The 'boat' shape makes the waffles perfect for filling. They cook fast. The timer helps a lot so you aren't guessing if the waffles are done. This makes for a good date night. Who doesn't like breakfast for dinner?

If you want a waffle maker to "load" extra fruit and whatever onto it, then this is your best choice. However, if you're like us and just want a regular waffle (with just syrup on it) then this one is not the best choice. The reason is because it makes waffles that aren't very thick. When you pour the batter (less than a 1/2 cup in each boat) into the 2 areas of the waffle maker it's best to pour it onto the center area of each "boat", and then let it run down into the sides of the "boats", because those thinner sides always get a lot more crisp and overdone than the center area.
We use the Krusteaz brand of waffle mix (the kind that requires you to add eggs and milk, rather than the one that requires that you just add water). For the 2 of us we usually divide the recipe in half. So that is 1 (slightly packed) cup of mix, 1 egg, 1/8 cup of vegetable oil, and instead of a 1/2 cup of milk, I usually add 3/4 cup. That makes the batter turn out thinner, so that it easily runs down into the sides of the boats in the waffle maker. If you wait just a few seconds (after putting the batter onto the iron) before closing the lid (so that the bottom has a chance to setup slightly), then you won't have to worry about the batter running out the sides. The batter will instantly begin to rise, so don't be alarmed if it appears that you have put too much into the "boats". The reason I'm not giving this waffle-maker five stars is because of the thin sides that are created--which tend to get too over-done in the baking process. With the Krusteaz waffle-mix the waffles turn out golden brown and very light--and that's with the temperature set to just "2". Before plugging in the unit each time we spray a bit of cooking spray on a brush and lightly brush all areas of the waffle-maker. It heats up rapidily when first plugged in and the waffles bake very quickly after the batter is poured into the boats, but the thin texture of the waffles means that they cool off very rapidly, so we tend to rush to eat them while still hot. I was very pleased with the over all heavy construction of this unit, but just not happy with the thickness of the waffles. So I just placed an order for the same brand--but the round-shaped one. We will save this "boat" waffle maker for when we have fresh fruit from our backyard strawberry-patch and fresh peaches, blackberries, blueberries and rasberries from the area growers. One other thing I liked about this unit is the ease with which we are able to remove the "boats" from iron--even though the sides are pretty deep.
